It'll run AH but don't expect any type of stellar performance out of it.  You may want to also increase the amount of RAM if the motherboard allows it.  2 gigs is the minimum needed to run Vista.

Get it, buy a copy of either XP or Win 7, wipe vista off and reload from scratch.

You'll have a better system.

YES. I'm running XP on this 7 year old system. What I've seen of Vista, I want NO part of it. Whatever I buy and assemble, it'll for sure have Windows 7. And actually, I have no plans to build any one of these systems verbatim, but maybe use them as a sort of basis. TilDeath has spec'ed me a system. He's as nice a guy as everybody said. Thanks a million for your help, Rich!

will support even the newest AMD Phenom II four and six-core processors.

You could run native resolution at 512 textures with that video card. Just keep the system running lean and clean.

wait a couple of months, save about $300 more dollars and buy a computer that will play ah full blast.  I bought mine one part at a time as I could afford it, reusing some parts from my old puter.  sometimes its better to wait, than to buy something you may not like.

Still the same...60 solid w/o shadowing (I personally don't like it anyway) with slight dips into the 56-57's in massive furballs. Then again me res is only 1440x900.

Obvious there are other bottle necks on the cheap system but as far as cards go, that Radeon 4770 is more than enough to run AH at full blast with 1024 hi-res textures.  The old gaming rig I use for AH has an AGP 4670 installed on it and runs AH at full settings using 1024 textures at a steady 59fps.

A 4850 would be another card to look into, the downfall is, it will not be direct x 11. Depending on what the PC will be used for and future palnning that issue may not matter.
