Salvo Settings
« on: August 22, 2010, 08:24:07 PM »
I would like to see the ability to set different salvos for the different ordinance types you are carrying.  Seems simple enough, make the .salvo command work for the ordinance you currently have selected.

For example, in an F6F... you select the bombs and type .salvo 1.  Then switch to rockets and type .salvo 2.

As it is now, the .salvo command sets the salvo for all ordinance you have on the aircraft.

Or have a .rsalvo # to override the salvo number.

I've found that shooting single rockets in rapid succession does the same thing. No typing needed

I can see the point for separate salvo for rockets and bombs.

.rsalvo 2 for rockets
.salvo 1  for bombs.

In certain situations, you are right, but here is my rebuttal to your argument: Few to no one can press their button as fast as 0.05 seconds. The eyelid moves slower than the speed needed press the drop button and it's the fastest muscle in the body. "Eyelid speed can reach as high as 100 millimeters per second."{eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/about_5372151_fast-eye-blink.html#ixzz0xSdfWvHw} That's 0.00006mph/0.0001kph and assuming it takes approx 1/64Th of an inch for the button to register on the stick/keyboard for a small point of reference, it would still take your eyeball 0.0005mph/0.0008kph OR 0.03 seconds to press and release the button. 1/64 is generous on the keyboard. So, many people set salvo's such as myself; I set my salvos to 6 in any American craft that can carry 2 1000lbs and 6 or more rockets. This is for hangars and while you can argue one could press the button 9 times (remember, gotta change weapon too), I press it 3 times; a third of the time means less needed in the ack. In a P38 with 2 1000lbs & 10 rockets, I have to retype my salvo so when I go for ack, or clean up after my previous hangar run. This, for me at least, is hard to do with people chasing me, or trying to get kill me from the ground. Typing is a hindrance trying to reset the salvo in a combat situation.

My math might be off, but I do believe I remembered the formulas correctly.

Also the the delay to be set for each as well.

Well it wouldnt just apply to rockets.  There are several planes that can carry multiple ordinance loadouts at one time.  The JU88, A20, D3A, SBD, 110...  etc.  It would have to be selectable by the loadout slot.

And yes... delay would need to follow suit as well.
