CV Grid squares and control
« on: November 04, 2010, 08:18:53 PM »
I see we have 2 Grid Squares for each CV for each side marked on the map.  I assume this is for a "second rescue" CV to be in the area but cannot be attacked so that isolated flyer's don't all go down should a their own CV be lost.  Is this assumption correct?  If not disregard my next statement.

I recommend the CM's remain in control of the "Rescue CV's" otherwise you can have a situation where the CIC or CO in charge of the CV's could bring them together or at least very close (while staying inside their grid box's) and make it very difficult to attack the right one with 2X the ACK firing at you.  Or even if they were within 8 miles apart (1/3 of a grid box) ingress or egress routes could also be effected.

I didn't see this stated any place and just wanted to check.

Yes, the "second CVs" are there as landing platforms as well as bases you can roll from initially. The cannot be attacked as per the rules of FSO (unless they are a valid frame target of course). They also have to stay within the grid. I will have a word with the setup CM and see that they do not get too close to the other CV grps. I dont want any game gaming if we can avoid that. They are just intended as a place to land not as extra AAA protection or anything else.
