Those applicable- please post 3Dmark2000 scores
« on: November 11, 2001, 02:30:00 PM »
Hi all, ran the 3dMark2000 test and my machine scored 2350. This seems low, however I know that my old MX series geforce could likely be holding down my number. And then again, i am really satisfied up to this point with how my PC performs AH. I wonder though if there are tweeks that could help improve my score, maybe even trying different drivers.

To give me and and everyone an idea of how they stand, could those that have done it, post your benchmark score?

Ammo, I'm glad you posted this.  I originally only had a 1640   :( Until I reloaded my drivers and did some tweaking.

3DMark2001 = 3149

AMD Tbird 1.33Ghz, FSB 100
640 Mb PC133 RAM
Win2K SP2
Radeon 32meg DDR, latest drivers
SBlive Value, latest drivers

Even after I did everything I could think of, I'm stil slightly below the average system of the same specs according to the madonion site.

Capt Apathy-that scores about right for your setup.

For anyone interested, I benchmarked again after installing WinXP. Gained over 200 in score from my 98SE score.

All, apreciate it, Hope more will post there results as well.

I edited my post at the top to include what you guys posted--the details. Notice how low my BM number is. Now I KNOW my Vid card is definately a bottleneck. But I feel like I should be doing better than what i am. Any advice on some tweeks that I may do ordriver change that may help? Keep in mind that in AH, my PC actually performs really well. Only in the thickest of smoke does my FR get in the teens.

That Voodoo just can't cut it anymore.

If you hate nvidia so much, get radeon 8500.

OTOH if you want a no-trouble setup, get geforce3 (Ati is still a bag of bugs.)

Yea, I'm pretty awed how low my PC scored.  A 609.  Geesh, maybe my 386 would fare better!

Then again, everyone else has cpu speeds x2 of mine!  I really love the FSAA of the Voodoo 5500 but then again, I don't hear a lot of Voodoo 5 guys mentioning big FPS's either.  Hmm, must be time to write to Santa and ask for on of those neat Alien computer systems   :D

I'll run mine as soon as I get home.. just to benchmark it against an almost identical system above.

One thing that was rather astounding was the difference the video card made for these tests.  Almost identical systems with different vid cards varying by 40%.
