i keep trying to fly the 262 like i do the p-38. i do kinda ok in it. like i mentioned in the other thread, paleoguy, and saj73 both handed my bellybutton to me a few times in knife fights. i'd assume that they fly this plane a lot in lw, because of how easily they did it.
i was finding a very weird stall in the 262 on sat. night too.......

on the plus side, i can land it, if i survive long enough.

i did have one dood that ran to ack.....co-alt merge about 5k agl....fight went to the deck, he lost his advantage, and bee-lined right for his base. i considered vulching him on landing, just because he ran, but jaeger1 talked me out of it. it probably paid off, as i had one chasing me, as i rtb'd low fuel.....and i ran out about 2 miles from base. it turned out it was saj chasin me, and he broke offr.

Thank you CAP for your kind words, but to be honest I never flew the 262 much. I just don't have the perks to fly one in any other arena, I flew 2 nights in 262's the last time they were up in AvA though. That's the longest period I have been in them, but I have to say this last night it was really starting to get fun at the end. Even if the time was about 6AM here in Norway at the end and I was way too tired to have full focus on my flying. It still was getting more and more fun the more sorties I was flying, and the more intense the fights got.  :aok

Think I started to get a pretty good feel for the 262's flaps, slow trottle response, and general handling in a tight fight at the end of this night. At first the plane was like flying a 18wheeler loaded with timber, only possible to accelerate downhill, and even harder to slow down or turn fast corners. But after some sorties I figured it out, and it started to behave more and more like a fighter plane rather than a timber hauler..  :lol

The noise was the only thing I never got used to.. Was flying with my headset as usual, and when I finally went to bed I had a terrible headache and a jetsound singing in my head for hours after..  Note to self: remember to turn down the sound a notch next time!  :noid

But I have to <Salute> you CAP for those great fights we had, and jaeger1 also. I was chasing him around quite a few times, but he was too slippery for me. And suddenly he vanished against the ground, only to appear on my 6 with blazing guns two sec later..  :O :joystick:

Great fun, in fact one of the very best nights I've had in this game for a very very long time!  :salute

and that sir is what makes this arena so special to me.

i've had more than one occasion that i've lost the con against the ground....and i've used that to my advantage a couple of times too.

ya hafta watch out for jaeger too. he offers to escort ya home, then waits till ya feel comfortable with an enemy plane flying a little behind ya....then he puts beer cans in a slingshot, and pops ya.  :O :noid

hope to see you back in here more sir. i get the impression you'd be a good fun fight no matter what you're flying......and apparently some of us will learn a lot from ya too.

The 262's are fun for the three sorties I flew one.  I just prowled around like a shark, belly to the grass, pop up and kill someone low on E and then back into the grass, prowl around for someone else.  When I say in the grass I was doging trees most of the time, almost hit a few while looking up :lol.  My small monitor makes it hard for to track targets close to the ground so the tactic worked for me, since everything was up.  My mechanics were happy no lost or damaged aircraft and all came back with two kills.

If you think your 19" is too small BigRat, perhaps you'd like to try my 15" laptop for a few sorties in there..   :P

Think I know what you are talking about when you say targets getting hard to track close to ground, that is really one of my biggest issues playing this game. That and my frps issues, that's mostly related to my poor videocard I think.

Really looking forward to the day I can play this game on a real game puter, then I will sit in the middle of the living room infront of my 46" flatscreen with a very big grin on my face!  :D

42" monitor? That's a pretty huge monitor..  :O
But I think the 46" flatscreen will be quite good too, if I just had a pc that could handle to run it. Its a 100hrtz full HD lcd, and I tested it with a cable from my laptop. The picture was awesome, but my laptop froze so it was impossible for me to play with it..  :cry
