fradim is sorta diminutive form of monk in Brazil, which I´ve chosen to honor one of our greatest characters of political cartoons: Fradim here is a sadist and sardonic yet funny monk ;-)

I was wondering about the meaning of the following names, but never asked:

Wilbus - The Swedish student who flies German iron

Harppa - The Finnish entrapenuer, who is also usually in Luftwaffe aircraft,

Darling - The Finnish webmaster, not in AH currently

Marleen - A Japanese guy - I think

Hanzo - A Japanese guy - I think

Do these names have any significance???

My real name is D.J.

My callsign happened when I used to run a chinese restaurant.

I worked with several mexican immigrants who would write notes to me about what got done at night after I left. They always started the note off with "Diche".

For weeks I searched every spanish/mexican dictionary I could find, trying to find a meaning for the word "Diche". But there was none.

I was complaining about this over a few beers one night when a friend started laughing.. He explained to me that D.J. can't be said in spanish, the nearest they could do for the "J" would be "che"

Hence my name, Diche (DeeChay), or D.J.

So anyway, in AW, I was TK421 which got shortened to TK. But that was taken in AH, so I had to find something new.

Harppa - Only a modification from my real name Harri, which is a Finnish version for 'Harry' ( Can you imagine !!? )
Darling - He's an Icelander actually

Marleen - Something to do with Lili Marleen ? No Idea...
Hanzo - After knowing Chikara-san from days of Warbirds, after countless hours of H2H with him, I really agree with his callsign, which means 'Great Warrior'

Actually, one of the greatest sticks and all round good-guys I ever met in the AF was my XO. He called all of us below the rank of Captain "Toad".

As in "you little Toad... get out of my office" and "Look, Toad.. if you plan on making the AF a career you had better figure out...".

First time I logged into AW as a newbie and it wanted me to "set my handle" I thought of old Harry... and "Toad" it was.

I think Diche is a slang for something spicy or a jalapeno pepper/sauce.

Maybe its your "hot" personality? who knows? lol. Ask a native mexican, im sure its slang.

Not foriegn but my Nic came from my wifes Ex-Husband. He said I was a sneaky bastard. When looking for a nic when I changed squads my wife told me this and we came up with Jackel. I was called a dog and a sneak...Jackel seemed to fit.

VFGhosty got his nic by me mainly. the way he flew at the time was , he was there , then gone. He was just flat good at dissappearing anf reappearing on your ass...LOL...Ghost fit. He is our friend and we respect him more than he knows.

PropNut is twofold ...the first and obvious is my love for prop-driven aircraft (especially WW2 war birds) I was in the aviation buisness for many years and used to work on many of the old stuff like P-38,P-63,A-26,C47s and many others. I dont need any kerosene burners

and the second meaning of my name is because I like collecting movie props ...so hence PropNut
