Up this week: Solomon Island 1943
« on: January 28, 2011, 11:24:23 PM »
Black Flags/Black Sheep/Black Knights
The end of Japanese Air Power in The South Pacific

Solomon Islands 1943
With the Corsair's now added to the fleet and the P-38 retiring the P-40 and the P-39, American commanders now turn their attention to the IJN transportation fleets.  Vunerable, lacking proper AAA protection, the American intelligence intercepts of IJN crypto traffic (now broken and decoded) are being taken advantage of.  The results will determine the course for Allied forces as they now squeeze the supply lines to the many IJA forces and Japan herself.

Allied Forces (Bishop - VOX 125)
B-25C
P-38G
F4U-1
F4I-1A

Axis (Knight - VOX 135)

A6M2
Ki-61
G4m Betty

This setup is the work of CAP1 and his very first time to submit one.
Best of luck CAP!

If it gets too lopsided you can always tweak the planeset a bit adding the A6M5.

We'll be flying Japanese this week to help you and give the B38 pilots and Navy guys something to shoot at. ;)

How is it lopsided? Plane set wise? the Ki61 is more than capable in this set up.. just wont be able to catch anyone

i could be wrong. the fact that the corsairs and lightnings can disengage anytime they like to reset is a huge advantage though.

all i really care about, is that you all enjoy it.  :aok

The F4U-1A might be faster on the acceleration than the Ki-61..... but the birdcage F4U ( F4U-1 ) is a different story, unless it is diving away ..

The Ki-61 is close to the F4U-1A in the Climb with the F4U-1A slightly being better

Now the Ki-61 walks the Dog when climbing against the older F4U-1...... and can easily climb out on the older F4U-1 from sea level all the way up to around 15 or 16K alt.

makes for a good battle Ki-61 verses either F4U series in this setup...... and the P38G will have a close fight as well. the Ki61 with WEP vs the P38G is almost equal in the climb, but drops off without the use of wep

The Ki-61 with WEP is very close to the P38G in speed as well...... although just a bit slower.... .... even more slower on regular mil power. but it is slow close it will be up to the pilots more so than the performance of the Aircraft....

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

thank ya sir. that seems to make it a closer match than i thought. that also means it should be massive fun for all involved.

only thing forgotten, was the pt boats. i was stirring the rusty wheels thinking of some sort of off the wall massive pt boat raid.  :devil

Congratulations CAP1! I can't wait to jump in~ I'll be back weds!

Where are the P-47's?! Poor neglected children...The 5th AAF operated them and they were active out of Port Moresby, New Guinea, 23 Jun 1943; Finschhafen, New Guinea, 16 Dec 1943~ It would give something for the Ki's to shoot at!

Cheers~ Seadog36
