Thanks for the replys!

I will cut down the processes, and update the soundcard driver... but it still doesn't explain the slow download in the ingame updater.

for example - right now i wanted to go online, theres an arena with over 300 people in it, but i have to update the terrain which is smpizza.res, as indicated on the updater... i checked on the website and the most recent terrain of smpizza is of last year, therefore i cannot download it any other way! right now the download is bearly moving... i mean its only 2.1MBs! i normally download that in a few seconds.

It most be something with router/port forwarding maybe even certificates... is there maybe a way to use a proxy that will fix this?

The PingPlotter print out would be helpful....

but out of curiosity, do you posibly have any P2P rograms installed on your PC< or do you do any movie, TV Shows, Music, Videos, Youtube videos...etc.. downloads from the net...... or use anything like Azurez, Utorrent, BitTorrent, LimeWare programs etc..... at any time with your PC you play AcesHigh on???

if so, this could be the reason you are experiencing slow update downloads, new map update downloads, etc.... it might be possible that if you use any type of these programs that they are using up your bandwidth without your knowledge, like being automatically started when you bootup / into Windows.....

just some thoughts...
"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

Packets: Sent = 3, Received = 3, Lost = 0 (0.0%)
Round Trip Times: Minimum = 197ms, Maximum = 201ms, Average = 198ms

The ping of 200ms seems correct, I do not live in the US and that is fairly what i should be receiving.

First, you should run it longer. 1 ping every second for 10 minutes at least. When it showes packet lose the first IP address is more often than not the troubled area. If its not showing any IP addresses then the issue is at your computer.

Running any P2P software really screws with your connection. Even after you shut it down computers will be pinging your for more than 24 hours.

The only time I have seen that is when the ISP is blocking all ICMP ECHO messages to and from the client.

The terrains are served from the same location for both the WEB page and the game.  The server IP address for that server is 70.87.104.98.

I wouldn't complain that the sound drivers are 6 years old... The sound card itself is almost twice that old. Still, as long as it works it won't cause a slowdown with bandwidth.

Definitely a connection issue. Something on the network between you and HTC.
