Salvo option where you could set a salvo for diffrent weapons.  EX- .salvo 2 rkts    EX- .salvo 1 BMBs so if you go in on some targets and you need to switch bettween 2 weapons types and hitting 2 diffrent targets that require diffrent ammount of ord.

How about just setting salvo to 1 and pickling off however many you want?  Seems pretty straightforward and requires no coad modifications.

Well, 1 issue is if you are at altitude, the difference between button clicks can make your bombs ineffective due to distance between. Not so much at lower alt with rockets. However 2 rockets hitting at same time looks better and causes more damage at same impact point.  :salute

Well then, it seems you're not going to be firing rockets way up there at altitude are you?  I'd guess you would be in a heavy bomber or some plane with a bombsight.  They don't usually carry rockets too, do they?

The only time I see that you'd be firing rockets and bombs in the same sortie at a short interval is on a low-alt JABO run and want to dump everything on the same target.  Otherwise you'd let loose some bombs, extend a bit and return to fire off some rockets.  What's so hard about changing salvo during the extend phase?

In any case, I just think it's programming resources better spent on other aspects of the game.

How was it done IRL?

Turn a knob and select which hardpoint.  Turn a knob and select salvo.

In game, Type .salvo <x>

Maybe it's too easy as it is?

When I'm running in on a hard target such as a hangar, I set salvo to 2. Drop 2 X 1000lbs and then switch to rockets. By the time I've switched to rockets I'll know if confidence is high enough to hold a few for another run, or if I need to keep firing to ensure the hangar goes down first pass.

De-acking or GV killing only requires a salvo of 1.

All of this is figured out before initial roll-in on target.

If I have ordinance left after a hangar strike, I simply change the salvo amount during egress, at which time I've got the throttle to the stops and WEP engaged to clear any ack or chasing fighters. Climb to a reasonable altitude and then make a rocket run on any remaining ack.

Just watch out for the snipers in the manned ack.

IRL eg. in a jug you could preselect which bombs would be dropped (any or all of the 3), then switch to rockets which would also be preselected (dual/alternate, auto/single, salvo etc).

thing is not all planes did it this way so you might have to model it differently for each plane, which would be trickier for new guys to work out. sounds like a problem to model too since we dont have real panels with knobs and switches on them.

So if I up a heavy BF 110 G with eggs and rockets and head to NME base to take out the VH. Enroute I see a bomber formation and climb up to attack them with my rockets ... See I can come up with exceptions too.  :bhead :salute

You can hit bombers with A-G rockets? You must be pretty good...or are you firing A-A rockets at hangars?  Your climb up to the bombers happens so fast you can't type .salvo ##?

I'd like it, but I don't think it's worth the effort.
