Have been on Facebook for maybe 2 years now. It has been great for keeping in touch with family/friends and leaning about lost acquaintances. I'm not a twitter type user and don't play farmville or such games. My privacy settings are set correctly. I never click on any of the commercial stuff either. I only accept I know or have known.

Not sure what the big deal is really. I've suffered no problems from my activity of facebook.

+1, but been on longer.  I was initially hesitant, but eventually joined.  Pictures are the primary purpose, since I don't generally find myself emailing 6 MB pics to anyone.  I've got a photobucket account as well, but it is far less accessible for many people.

my apologies, I did not know that I posted ( copy pasted quoted ) something that was political, racist or religious..... I thought it was only to do about FaceBook being investigated and nothing more...... again I'm sorry..... I must of missed the Not Allowed stuff when I read that news feed....

yes, it's been happening to my friends alot. most recent ones were  friends posting stuff like " omg brandon! what we're you doing in this video!?" then it has some random advertisement video in it.

and then there was one where my friends would i.m me (even when they arent online) telling me to go out and by this sweet new labtop. then it gives a link to the labtops home page.

then when i click on the box to ask them why there telling me to do this, they conveniently go offline again.

what ive noticed most tho, is that there is ALOT of sex bots on facebook.
put your status as single, and they will swarm you with invites.

some girl will send me a request, i'll add because it says we have like 3-4 friends in common. then sudden i get the i.m "hey brandon! like what you see? want to see my naked pictures? well then just click the link here!:[link] oh and have your credit card ready. because you have to prove your 18!" ive had 7 do this so far,  :lol wonder if they could get in trouble for sending these advertisements to underage kids. because i do know some who have recieved them.

Google your name if you have FB. All your info just pops up for everyone to see

I don't use my real name on facebook.  I use a nickname my friends know me by, anyone looking me up with my actual name won't find me.  I don't have it associated with an email address I use for anything else.  With those precautions in place, I don't see any harm in using Facebook for whatever.

No horror stories here.  A little bit of common sense goes a long way.  I get WAY too useful information on the local music scene to not use it.

I can get more information from the yellow pages or by googleing myself then I can from trying to look up my facebook account. I have everything locked so only my friends can see my information. Plus I have it set so only certain friends can see certain photos or posts. Seems the people that always complain about FB are the ones that have never used it or didn't take the time to learn how the settings work.

quite frankly, the interface is not very user friendly. It's almost as difficult as learning the nuances of AH.
