B-29 kills shoot downs and crashes. post here!

Dont want to mention any names but that you cant get above 40k theory just got shot out the window.

I was flying escort for that mission in a 152. I don't think any of the 29s got above 30k, much less 40.

8 sets of B29s took off, along with 6 escorts. 3 sets landed, and I was the only escort to land (2 kills)

Took off with 68 mins of fuel and landed with 3. Very fun mission!

I hope you have lots of time, because they were climbing at about 400 fpm above 28k

thats the whole point. see alot of buff pilots in AH2 dont want to take the time to get to alt and line up for your run. i do and it takes alot of patients

My first kill on the new version. I will tell you this the 109G2 is not easy to control and maintain 'E' in while at 30k, which is where I had to be at to get even a mediocre shot on these b29's which were at 27k at this point.

btw: though i have no ss of it this one kill as worth 15 perks, most i have ever had in one sortie.


I never fly bombers that high. I love the thrill of the fight even when in bombers so I try to fly at an altitude that gives me a chance of survival and a chance to entice a few fighters to come after me and 35k is usually not that great for entice fighters.

But hey whatever you prefer i guess.

Question for you....you mentioned that you cant drop the gear at the last second like in a B17.....  What would be the parameters to drop the gear to ensure that your formation drones land on the runway?

Drones don't count for "landing on concrete." Only the plane you're in matters. The only caveat is they can't be so far away as to "lose your drone."

Shooting out of the tail of the B29 is terrible. Can't see the target unless it's directly on your level 6. Too much junk metal in the way. I can tell I'm gonna need lots of practice trying from the # 5 & 6 positions. Maybe I'll try from the outside view. My first encounter was with a p51 that simply looped 3 times an killed all 3. Had trouble seeing him. Few .50 cal rounds and i was burning. Was it that vulnerable?
