Its pretty tough to get the VC,

From Wiki
Quote
The VC was introduced on 29 January 1856 by Queen Victoria to honour acts of valour during the Crimean War. Since then, the medal has been awarded 1,356 times to 1,353 individual recipients. Only 13 medals, nine to members of the British Army, and four to the Australian Army, have been awarded since the Second World War

Sgt. Pun is part of a long, proud history.  The Gurkhas have been a highly valued part of the British Army for almost two centuries.

Its pretty tough to get the VC,

From Wiki

If beating off 12 to 30 insurgents at such close range, alone and coming to hand to hand with some of them doesn't qualify I don't know what would.
