WTF happend to history and discovery channel

Ok so im a bit old and have had satilite since the mid 90's and my basic love is the history channle and discovery and the other learning channles but over the last few years WTF has happend to them? They are all just reality  tv shows and stupid ones at that. I must admit i do like dirty jobs and mythbusters but other than that its getting stupid. Once in a while history international has something on about history but for the rest theres nothing about history on them.

Is it just me or does anyone else see this

I have watched it transform before my very eyes. And as mentioned above, even history international has fallen prey to the hijacking. There is a reason it is called TV programming. All of TV is now in a race to catch up with the alternative media on the web, It looks like its a losing battle for TV.

I agree, its not the same as it used to. I loved when I would turn it on and dogfights would be on for 5 hours. Or heavy metal would be on doing informational videos on tanks, planes, ships, and so forth.

I remember when it was real documentaries on Rommel's war in the desert or Attacks on the Dragon's Jaw Bridge.

Yup even that stuff. It seems like when i get up at 6am to get ready for college and turn TV on, there are documentaries on. But once it hits like 8am they are over and its all the new stuff.

Yes... I have given up on that too. A few years back I thought it was awesome, now I realize its just a cheerleader for the MIC which is funny because they won't upgrade to HD on Dish Network... I'm such a hypocrite.

Heck yes, I love R Lee Ermey.  Mail Call was one of my fav shows.

Military channel has some stuff on during the day. Was watching one about strategic bombing of the USAAF diring WW2 for europe and pacific theatres.


Also check out the smithsonian channel. That has some good stuff on it once in a while
