Thank you for being serious, but I find it difficult because I don't support gay rights. If it was a friend who lived further away it wouldn't be as bad but he lives right down the street. I mean this completely changes everything.

He's always quiet, doesn't make eye contact ever, and he's just awkward all the time.

why does it matter how far away from you he is? you make it sound like hes going to come creeping in the night to get you. I would be more worried for my future kids living next to a Catholic Preist than a gay guy...

Just tell him your not like that. If he had the guts to tell you, you can at least show him the respect and tell him how you feel about it. Nothing about him has really changed, you still have the common interests that have allowed you to be friends all this time. personally it doesnt bother me and i dont get why people get so bent over about it (sorry for the pun). who are you (not you personally but anyone) to tell them how to live their lives. Its stupid to shut him out of your life and miss out on a good friendship because of your insecurities. If it were me, i would take it as a complement and tell him im not like that.

     He is still your friend or he would not have been honest with you.  Tell him face to face that you don't swing that way, but that you appreciate his honesty.  Be his friend.  But, tell him if he ever hits on you even once that you will goosestep his head into the pavement.  He will respect your wishes if he is truly your friend.

Quoted for truth - I'd suggest taking this and Cap1's advice. So he's gay, big whoopy deal - thats his life, not yours. Not much of a friend if you give him up over his sexuality.

Its not that I hate all gays, its just the idea of it all is whats so sickening. But I understand what your saying, perhaps I just to think about this for a while?

Are you sure it's that? Perhaps it's not the idea of homosexuality, but the insecure way that the idea makes you feel.
Maybe your friend isn't gay at all, but he's realized something about you that you're hiding even from yourself, and he's trying to make you confront it.
You should be thankful of him.
