i gotta admit, although i'm a ford nut, i'm not at all unhappy with my dakota. 318 5 speed, infinity stereo. that stereo is the best i've ever had in a car, and i haven't heard any 90's fords or gm's match it. power isn't what it could be for the engine though..but she's still fun to drive.

I did like the stereo in my 2000 Ram 3500. Hell I loved the truck till 37,000 miles and then it fell apart. Dodge had an interesting approach to customer service too. "Pound sand". Speaking of stereos the Bose in my Chevy is the best thing I've ever had in a vehicle.

2004 F150 FX4X4.. Mine runs a Edge Programmable Perfomance chip, just turned 68,000 and will cook the tires off the rims, next ugrade is a stage 2 roush supercharger when money allows for it.

Duramax with a tune are excellent. My truck is just over 108000 miles now and still on original brake pads.

 the only way i'd buy a diesel powered truck, would be for towing. otherwise, they're just not for me.

 i keep looking at the older ford 350 series, with the 7.3 in them. those things just don't die.

What year is that Shuffler, an 03?  The went to different mirrors here in Canada in 2004, kinda like 2 seperate mirrors and 2 arms, where the 2003 was a single arm with power extension options.  I didn't change my brakes out on mine until 206000 km, around 125k miles too, hah.



This is my new(er) Durmax, I'm up to 90k Miles on it.  It's chiped and tuned up pretty well as well, although not running 10's like the ones you saw.  I usually have it in economy mode except when towing either 18' Seadoo boat/dirtbikes/seadoos.  I can get 850kilometers per tank if I don't drive it hard.  I haven't had ONE single problem with it, I think I've replaced a taillight bulb and that's it so far other than regularly scheduled maintenance

Since getting my new mustang I've decided like I said before that my next truck will be a Ford.  After riding in a Toyota recently, I really appreciated the build quality - shutting the doors was like a Lexus experience they were so smooth...but this just felt wrong to me for a truck...almost to much refinement.  No sir, it'll be either the Raptor or an F150 with the ecoboost.  Diesel isn't that important to me like Cap said as well, I just don't haul anything heavy enough to justify it anymore.  


Also, 68Zoom that's a nice looking rig there.  Those mid 2000 model Fords can still pass for almost new on the road still if you ask me.  It's hard to believe that's an 8 year old truck now.

There, happy now?!     I only have a couple of other pics I'll put them up in the other thread, it's in storage next to the snake until spring, but then I'll be daily driving it much to the wife's chagrin as it was supposed to be "her" car, hahah.  I'll be busy with it hunting tards in the WRX'x, EVO's (hundreds here in Calgary), and my favorite, the blingbling Represent/KeepItReal asian exhuast and pssssh-t shifting Hondas that have overrun this city like the Chinese army heading south in the Korean War.

How's your Mustang doing Cap?  Do you get much snow roundabouts your area this time of year?  Jersey isn't it?  Can you drive year round, or at least most of it?

'05 I opted for these mirrors as they auto tilt down when backing and you can power them in for passing through narrow openings.

Got a '98 Chevy 1/2 ton - 48k on the clock when I bought it (for the grand total of 4500). Moves me from a to b, swapped out the stereo so I can listen to mp3's via aux (mp3 player) or off of a disc.

Aside from that, not made any changes. V6 so gas useage isn't "that" bad - around the 21 mpg or so. Moves my dirt bike from where I am to where I ride with ease, comfortable enough - bought a camper shell for $50 from a local, so good to go.

Recently had to move a friends 4 x 4 from where he'd got it stuck (he had no tools, water, anything useful and decided to go off road with it. Got it bogged down to the shell. Dug it out, hitched it up, and pulled that daft sod out)

Maintenance wise, oil change every 3k seems excessive, so I do mine every 5 - any problem with that? Not had to change anything out yet - thats what shops like Cap's are for, as I'm mechanically challenged lol.....

Ah, I see.  Nice truck, reminds me of mine, which was my first Diesel truck and probably my favorite because of all the fun times I had with it.  It was the perfect vehicle for my line of work and lifestyle back in the day.  It had a good size box and great towing ability, but the interior of an Escalade pretty much.  Great leather seats up front, rear DVD system with wireless headphones, which was pretty cutting edge back in 2003, and I added a slaved DVD lcd screen up front as well and a sub system behind the rear bench.  On long trips you cruised at super low RPM, got SICK mileage if you had the chip set to economy mode, and could watch and listen to movies like you were in a mini home theater room.

 we don't normally get too much snow around here till jan/feb. the last 2 years were different, but now we're falling back to normal. hell....it was nearly 60f last night as i washed her.
 i've got her parked in the garage right now, but have been able to do some driving, although mostly work rush hour. i'm driving my mom down to my uncles on sunday, and may take some back roads. she's been having heart skips or something where the docs wanna jump start her heart. i figure a nice twisty road should give her that jump start, and let me have some fun.   
 once they put anything on the road surface like brine or salt, my baby's parked till march.

I remember doing an oil change on '98 f150. The guy was 30k overdue, and when i drained the oil...there was maybe one quote of it at most. I was very surprised, usually 30k overdue is enough for engine to make all sorts of strange noises but this one ran smooth, no knocks, squeaks...it was amazing. And other thing, it seems  Ford frames don't get corroded as bad as other US truck manufacturers. Of course its nothing new for Cap but for me being a German car tech it was sort of mind changer towards Ford product.

 bolded......i generally recommend 5k when highway driven, and 3k for "around town" driven........i just had a car in the shop that went 10k+ without an oil change. i'll be posting a thread about it soon. suffice it to say it isn't pretty.

 if you put that much mileage, mixed, you're probably ok. i have a fleet customer that puts nearly 5k a month on all 7 of their cars. they'd be almost twice a month if we did 3k, so we keep them at 5k. so far, no problems.
