Dolby invites you to the Final Farewell to JG5 “Eismeer”, which will be closing its doors. Friends and guests, squad members past and present, you are all invited to a night of fighter sweeps, fights, and general silliness to say good by to a squad whose flame burned bright but very briefly. (PM your interest and a night will be organised)
JG5 in brief;
I started JG5 “Eismeer” from humble beginnings back in September 2011. I was flying alone in the arena under the banner until I opened for recruitment in the 2012 New Year. The first member, Raphael joined that May and went to become the Executive Officer. Raphael and I terrorised the Main arena in our 109Es for months after and enjoyed fighting in our early war rides which resulted in our first film together.
Nearly 1 year after the squad was formed, the squad numbers doubled with the intake of Debrody and Valen, two fantastic fighters and wingmen. A month later another 2 joined the ranks but sadly 2 had left. The following months JG5 enjoyed the recruitment of ReVo, RedBull and Latrobe, valuable and talented fighters which helped bolster JG5 as a Top Ranked Fighter squad, managing 3 months in a Row at the height. 2012 Had proved to be a good year for JG5, fighting as a group, laughing and joking around.
But as with any story a change in fortunes are always lurking around the corner. Although early 2013 started just as well as 2012 the good times did not last. A staleness fell upon the squad and minor quarrelling took it’s toll over the squad’s direction and began to sap the fun out of flying together. After such events and the loss of very influential people, very few were coming to be recruited. I tried myself to rebuild the squad back to its former glories, with awkward flying times being suffered by members, slow uptake of recruits, exits were increasing.
Patience to rebuild could only go so far;
So just shy of 2 years after the squad's inception, I say with a heavy heart that sadly JG5 will cease to exist in the Main Arena. It has been a pleasure being the overseer of such great squad mates over the years in my time as CO of JG5 and wish all past and present members of the squad all the very best with their future endeavours.
