I like Lincecum's deal better.  He gets 40.5 million over two years in San Francisco.

But we already have Verlander.

I could Google it but I just don't care enough.

I was a big fan of course of Cecil Fielder, probably the last player to hit 50 HRs without cheating.  Prince will be hugely popular in Detroit, I have high hopes for the season!  I never heard the story before today of Prince hitting balls out of Tiger Stadium in BP at the age of 12, that's insane.

Not a single one of those clowns deserve that kind of money. Especially some pitcher who only tosses a ball around in a game once every 5 days or so. I have said it before but pro baseball players are just prettythanghats for the most part. I had a former friend who was whining to a bunch of us college football players back in '94 that he was only making 750k as a pitcher and he felt he was worth at least 1 million if not more after his three years in the big leagues. We left him in the bar with a few hundred on the bar tab and told him that since he only made 750k that he could surely pick up the tab for the night.

If they can afford those salaries to players, then I want my $100,000/ yr job being the team Waterboy.

I used to share that same sentiment about pitchers vs. position player. Then I heard an intresting stat durring the AL MVP talk after this past season. Jacobi Ellsbury played in 158 games last year and had 660 plate appearances, Justin Verlander played in only 34 games but faced 969 batters. As far as I'm concerned, this proves that a starting pitcher has a larger impact than a position player over the course of a season.

With Cabrera moving back to 3rd, should be very interesting how Leland sets up the batting order, me personnally i woulda spent the money on a pitcher/pitchers but thats just me.

They are still going after a pitcher.   Illitch is 83 years old and wants a win.

Michael Schumacher made 40,000,000 a year racing for Ferrari, and he drove the car 2 times every other week during the F1A season, but he was worth it,at least he didn't get busted for drugs or dog fighting.
