I am going to ask, what was the result?

According to Anderson, they used up most if not all their ammo and couldn't get the things to burn.  Yeager apparently thinks the story is better if they did and tells it that way. :)

The interesting foot note to the story is they did this on their last mission before going home.  They signed up as spares for the mission and when no one aborted the mission they were joy riding instead of turning for home, the incident with the drop tanks actually happened in Switzerland.  When they got back home, they were the last ones back and everyone crowded around to see how many kills they got that day.  Turns out while they were joy riding the group got into one of it's biggest scrapes of the war, claiming over 50 victories.

napalm wasnt used in WW2. therefore this will never happen. let it stop here

Napalm was most certainly used in WW2.  Do a little research yourself sometime.

sorry, I still have a job that needs to be done every day. Research is the last thing I think about when I have time. The little bit of research I tried looking into napalm, I didnt see it being used til late '46. sorry for not sitting here and learning when napalm was used.

I have seen film of F4Us(?) dropping explosives that sure seemed to burn like napalm. The video is one of those canned films that seems to show up on every WW2 commercial. Was that not napalm or the early version of it? What is also interesting is one of the F4Us(?) has gear down, obvious airbrakes.

I believe that was footage from Okinawa in which the Corsair pilots were taking off so close to the battle lines that they didn't have time to raise their gears before they dropped their napalm.

Think they made a lot of holes in the drop tanks.

Oh so you have enough time to participate in a forum discussion, but not enough time for a casual research? Oh my, is that shocking!

I'm sorry.  At this point, I have to agree with others that this is a troll.  Between this thread and the other(s) like his virus problem.....well.....no one moderately conversant in English is that stupid.  Welsh, he may be....but he would know punctuation.  At least a period.  I fear we have been played.

That, or I fear for the UK public education system (in addition to my own).

i think wiki said it was first used in a bomb role in 1944 when it was dropped from P38's. I may be wrong tho.

2 active brain cells hardly warrants a plural use of the word "cell(s)"

One that tells you to breathe and the other one that tells you to post silly things on the internet doesn't do much for bragging rights.
