My wife is exceptionally intelligent, yet she is absolutely owned by math. Over the years, she has forced herself to get better (she handles our finances with a mastery, she calls herself an "asian jew"... which I think is okay... I mean, it's not politically correct, but it's politically awesome...)
Anyway... a few years ago... I thought she was going to throw down because of a little argument that we had... she insisted that 750 was an odd number. It didn't help that a really good friend of ours was there, and even though he KNEW we'd just entered dangerous territory, he couldn't keep a straight face... (you'd have to know the guy, he's one of those dudes that anyone would be more than blessed to have as a friend, and is absolutely respectful... so for
him to lose his bearing...)
Anyway, the great difficulty she has with non-meaningful/uninteresting numbers (there is some clinical term for it... abstract concepts, etc), has cause her to internalize certain things in error... and I guess the concept of "odds and evens" was locked in as relating to the first digit... anyway, to this day, I don't bring it up hahahahahahaha....
She is beautiful, scrappy, sees road curve speed warnings as a challenge, has taught herself electrical engineering, carpentry, and can build a spreadsheet that would make Stephen Hawking reach for the Exedrin... just don't ask her to do even the most basic math in her head (literally... 7x5... forget about it...)
I am hoping one day I can get her to gun a buff again for me in AH
