Aircraft repair

I have suggested this before and so I will again! I think if you have a damaged aircraft, yet you don't want to end your "sortie", for what ever reason, you should be able to land at a friendly base, taxi into one of the empty hangars, wait 3 minutes, taxi back out the runway and takeoff again. My logic on this suggestion is based on, you can drop a "box" of vehicle supplies 700 feet away from a damaged tank and you are back in business again. So why can't we do the same thing with aircraft? If a turret on a tank or flak wagon can be replaced by just dropping supplies close by, doesn't it make sense that we should be able to "field repair" a damaged aircraft. Some of the things I am thinking about are, oil leaks by enemy fire or ground ack, a damaged gun or guns by air combat or ground ack, a missing aileron, 1/2 elevator, rudder or many other things which force you to end your sortie.

     Apparently your mechanic wears underwear with a Giant S on the chest.  Repair an oil leak in 3 minutes?   Even if it was an oil
line, chances are it would take you that long to get the replacement part.

Rino, your logic doesn't hold water - it is a huge deal to replace the turret or main gun on a sherman too. Just sayin'.

only reason guys want this is so they can get to that ever so hard to master 2+ kill sortie and get their name in lights.

What is wrong with landing an aircraft and keeping it to try and continue a killstreak?  Whether it for personal goals or name in lights.

I personally like to see as a personal goal, just how far I can take my streak before I either wimp out or get killed.  How does this detract from gameplay?  Especially since the ones that disagree are vocal about not caring about score?

sure, only if it takes weeks to repair, no logging off. stay in the hanger for weeks. then it fixes.

How about tanks have a repair tank tow vehical with a trailer to run out to the damaged tank. If the tank repair vehical doesnt get nailed while doing it's job you get a repaired tank. Say 5 minutes whoever is shooting at them sitting still next to the damaged vehical.

Then reciprocaly you can have an aircraft damage repair hanger to taxi or slide into as long as you stop with some portion of your aircraft inside. Say 5 minutes whoever is shooting or bombing them.

I could always understand the tank supplies in terms of rearming and fuel. But an itty bitty box jacking the tank up and putting new tracks on it while doing an engine rebuild and rebarreling the main gun when the new tracks won't even fit in the box's we drop off. Magical Aces High Nanomechina GV Gremlins I guess live in the boxes.

Shades of Mary Poppins hand bag or Dr. Who's Tardis. Or Mario Bros power ups. I shot a tank 10 times in a row one night with an 88. Everytime I thought this was it becasue he was smoking and leaning to the side, he pops up and starts firing back again. The freindly who finaly bombs him swore he had 20 boxes of supplies laying around him with an M3 almost back with more. I can sort of understand the insta-almost-new tank on the spot repairs becasue of how gamey spawn camping can get if someone can drop the supplies in the first place.

Maybe our own tanks can tow barrage ballons with special hang down repair bags that if we can fly our damgaed aircraft into the bags all of our damage will be insta repaired, fuel and ammo replenished by the family of tiny Gremlins in each bag. Thats about the exact equivalent of the vehical supplys performing major repairs instantly in the feild. Wouldn't it be more honest when the M3 pulls up a hoard of tiny Gremlins runs over to the damaged tank and you watch a Super SiFi Japanamation rebuild of the tank? But in the trees just off an airfeild thats on the verge of possibly being lost to the enemy. 20 boxes to make a semi undestroyable tank other then by Tank-Aces greatest whine in the game? Bombing the poor defenceless tank.

Just ask for insta repair aircraft supply balloons. The tanks have insta repair supply boxes. Get realy jiggy and ask for C47's that can drop 25 GV supply boxes while towing insta repair drones to fly your planes through. It would give you more slow targets to shoot if anyone felt like dieing all the time to help their countrymen.

I think that it's an authenticity issue. Rearming and refueling is even pushing it for me and, before you get into the GV repairs, I don't love them either. Rearm? Sure. Replace a blown engine? No.

The problem is that it's a wish to improve score/stats without improving ability.

     I've never worked on tanks, but I have spent years repairing aircraft    As far as the tank repair thing goes, I'm fine with GV
supplies just replenishing ammo and fuel, so no magic repairs for them either.

The choices about repair have absolutely nothing to do with realism.

It is not more or less realistic to repair after a short period of time, or to die and jump into a new plane every 2 secs.

The case could be argued that the repair is more realistic because it is conceivable, where coming back from the dead is not.

So the choice is simple game play. As I have said before,it is a simple matter of how to define a sortie. Rearming pushes the sortied concept some what, but it still requires a mostly undamaged plane. As I have said before, I have no problem with the concept , if it ended your sortie for scoring, and began again. But that is why people wish it , to continue their kill streak/sortie. Just like any rule the line has to be drawn at some point where a sortie ends. We chose damage as one criteria that will end a sortie.

I have an awesome idea What if like if your plane gets shot up and stuff you can land and repair it if you don't want to lose your one kill you got if this other guy like crashes into the ground and stuff close to you and its says you killed him right I mean you can fix planes in real life and stuff and tanks too you you need more bullets so you should fix planes too that would be cool i know someone asked for this once befoe but it would be really cool we need it please please put it in or I might quit and play COD cause thats like more real and stuff KTHANXBYE
