How about instead of pre-set spawn points you simply point at the map and click and that's where you spawn?

There would have to be limitations of course like only x distance maximum from the base you're starting from or at least y distance from the nearest enemy base but other than that open up spawning.

Spawn on top of a canyon or at the bottom or whatever you want.  Take your chances on spawning into trees or in the open or on a canyon wall and adjust your spawn point on the next try if needed.

Seems to me like it would really open up the ground game to a lot more strategy and realistic tanking.

Why not enable this as a G.V. mission creation task? The idea you present is good, but it would be better served  as a part of creating missions so that the mission designer could set up an assembly area and this set the designated coordinates as a key spawn point for that mission. It would also serve as a rally point for refuel rearm and or reconstitution of combat strength for the mission.

just a thought.
Yes there is a Huge learning curve in flying. It starts on Take off and ends on the glide slope for landing. In short The grade arc is the difference you take between being in the sky or in a mountainside.

There has been 2000 idea's to upgrade tanking , many are quite good, the biggest problem that isn't a simple solve is adding more spawns to a base, if it was that easy it would of been fixed/upgraded already.

You take your chances, I already lost enough perk tanks "guessing and spawning on top of a canyon", there is only one map that spawns tankers in a position to shoot down hill, or cause them to ROLL down hill.

I've lost less money gambling then trying to spawn a tank on that hill.

I still like my "2-stage" spawn idea, which would let you "look before you leap", and which didn't require map changes...

Have a spawn where the last 10,000 yards of it from the arrow back is a grid 4k x 10k. Inside of that you can move an arrow anywhere and spawn. Your tank battles at spawns end up being 3-20 guys surrounding the invisible circle of random spawn clobbering 1-3 guys anyway.

This would tend to make the tank battle take place along a front or scattered down a line of terrain. Escpecialy if you had a storch being able to spawn in and respond to requests on country text or a GV text channel tied to that spawn advising where the enemy GV are camping in the grid. Or scout M3 and M8.

I'm not sure if it would be a clunker to coad or the idea even compatible with AH. But, have a sub grid map of the spawn area that all GV and Storch can pull up along with a text channel(CYAN) tied to that so the Storch and other GV can answer queries about safe spawning points and battle conditions. It would be available in the tower to ask questions of the storch and GV at the spawn. The enemy GV would obviously have a simliar sub grid map for their spawn grid and text channel for thier spawn. The text channel would be how a Storch or GV fighting forward into the enemies spawn grid would update those spawning back in how to move up to the fight.

Currently the map and text are more alined to the air war speeds and distances. Tank fighting is slow and constrained in a much smaller feild of combat defined by the terrain.

But, all of this is wonderful untill the bombers and jabo show up. So it may not be necessary.
