Pies are still essentially capable of flight and the removal of their innards, bearing in mind the innards in question bear no relation to the flight dynamics of said pastry, may well improve it's flight characteristics by significantly reducing its all up mass
The repaste in question will become airborne with the application of force applied through its lift vector, either by the application of a 'flinging' force (bibl. Pie Wanging publ. 1847 Theodore T Fruitsnaffler) or by applying pedal force.
