Kovel,

What happens if you turn on Combat Trim via the keyboard, and not the stick?  Does it happen then?

Yes...It happens the same

Ty :)

Really, really odd.  Wish I had another idea.

Hya FLS:

It only happens with CT ON. If everything is OFF and plane is trimmed manually.....elevator trim doesnt move and plane flies leveled.

I did a quick test in the 190D then repeated it in the P-51 and got the same result. I don't use CT enough to say if that's normal or related to the 20k altitude where I tested or if it needs adjustment by HTC. I believe I've flown level with combat trim before but I don't recall if it was more than a few seconds.

FLS ty for your test. So, are you having the same behaviour than me ?

CT is the same in a P-51 so it isn't the Dora or your stick.

It seems like the CT is moving the trim up as the nose comes up but I can only guess why it starts to come up in the first place.  I would expect the CT to hold the nose level so it doesn't pitch up as the speed increases. Looks like a bug.

I agree. Once the plane is leveled CT should keep it trimmed.

The elevator trim comes up in a exponential way.

Let's see what technical staff say about this.

I wanna say thanks a lot to you FLS, DEDRIOCK, KATANASO, FUZEMAN and SKUZZY for helping me (S)

Since I don't know how the CT is coded I can't say for sure it's misbehaving. It's not an auto pilot. It sets the trim according to speed but if it only resets every 10 MPH for example then any acceleration after that will bring the nose up. Once the attitude changes it may just be trying to maintain the new attitude.  If it is a bug I'm sure it will get adjusted. If you use the auto level trim you don't have to worry about it.

Just turn CT off when you enter the fight and don't worry about being a little out of trim.

One more off the wall thought, have you remapped the CT command at all? Just making sure we are using the correct one instead of say for example, Trim Set.

COMBAT TRIM [CT] is KEY_X,CTRL
vs
TRIM SET is KEY_DOT

edit - using default keystrokes for above.

Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

I have CT ON/OFF mapped to my joy

I have also mapped the std keys:

 - COMBAT TRIM [CT] is KEY_X,CTRL

 - TRIM SET is KEY_DOT

Watching the film will answer quite a few questions. Also as I mentioned, I'm seeing the same thing with my setup in both the 190D and the P-51.  Trim set would likely accomplish what he's trying to do with combat trim.

I dont have the same problem in Hogs.

Another player has just told me that he has noticed it in P51s, but not in the 109s....hope it helps.

This is good to know. If it works like you expect for other aircraft it may just need adjusting for the 51 and 190D.

I had time to test some other aircraft and they all do the same thing. It seems to be by design, the combat trim is not for hands off flying.
