 i'm kinda shocked. it looked like nearly everyone was engaged. i landed my birds, and went looking around, and saw action still happening with 30 minutes left to go. our group was engaged over the target, but we still leveled it with minimal losses, thanks to our escorts.

 who told you to hold back? pm that to me please?

Maybe our escorts did such a good job that i did not see one red guy..i think there where 1 or 2 floating around.
But i been doing fso's for over 5 years and never had 2 so boring in a row.

A quick look at the logs shows that is exactly what happened...

The skies were swarming with Bf-109Gs, Fw-190As, and Me-410s, but the 3 Squads assigned as escorts to the Buffs in Purple Group (334th, VMF-101, and LCA) shot down or drew off so many defenders that the Buffs made it in and out of the Target Area virtually intact.

The whole point was that the Bombers were able to destroy 91 objects at the Fuel Factory in 9,7,7 sector, and made it home again.

The combined escorts had 20 kills (WTG LCA with 13 Kills!) but paid a heavy price with 15 killed or captured.

VMF-101 Nightmares

The LCA was told by qbert to fly an advanced sweep of the target area once the bombers were a sector out.

We ran into a few early (maybe scout?) 109s about a sector out, about a two key pads out we ran into a group of 8-12 190A-8s that we quickly engaged since they were in the direct flight path of the bombers. In a moment of stupidity I got tangled up with a few and was quickly out of action. I rode along with a few squaddies to continue to help direct the action. After the bombers were RTB there was a report of a 190's-109's and Me410's over A46. After the bombers were in the safe zone my guys rearmed and went back to clean up.


The LCA had a great time in our P-38's

Right on ..i guess in this case it was more...who bombed our targets...cause there where non for our 24's,just a combo of 2 bad fso's,when we where escorts no enemy ,then we where buffs nothing to blow up.I stay up late for this on the east cost. 

Good job fighters and Ty for the cover,did not mean to come off like i don't think they did well.
