Anger Management
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:44:56 PM »
After 40 years of smoking, I quit, cold turkey 18 days ago now.

I don't feel like smoking.

I've gotten over the habit of smoking, like doing something with your hands etc.  I used to take off, auto climb, go out to the garage, have a smoke, come back and fly, got over that too.

The one thing that I'm having alot of trouble with is anger.  Little things piss me off something terrible.

I talked to a few of ya in the game about it yesterday and it helped.

I'm posting this to give you all a heads up, a warning.  That's not me being a jerk, it's just anger.

I was a jerk to Twintail after he shot me down yesterday.  Didn't make me feel better, made me feel worse, and more angry.

I'm asking all my friends here to just for a bit longer, to be understanding.  Just ignore me if I say something mean, or stupid to you.

I really need your help with this.

Thanks,

Your friend, Zoney

Learn to vent that rage, go out to a firing range with a box full of ammo and scream "GET SOME!" while killing soda bottles and coke cans.

You feel so much better after, believe me :)

zoney, every time i quit, i wanted to rip someones head off for the smallest thing. its nicotine withdrawal. if you cant/dont want to, get any type of welbutrin or something like that to help you, just tell yourself that its not as bad as you think. the most inane jokes would set me off to the point of raising my blood pressure. either ignore you feelings, or shut off the game and take a quick walk, it will help you clear your head, or at the very least relax you a bit, so you can go back to the game. im right with you bro, i know exactly how you feel! you are not alone! it took me over 5 years to finally quit smoking and i did it with drugs. they work and the world is now a much better place.

WTG Zoney, and I pray you STAY quit!! :salute

I am PROUD of you for taking the step!   Worst case scenerio--get the #3 patches at the pharmacy and put one on when you feel weak.  They WORK!

With all the wheels falling off my own health bus it's great to still be alive.  Many of my friends who smoked (like I did) are GONE.

Getting off the smokes is a tough one, even though the nicotine dependency is long gone from my system I still miss smoking a lot, would probably be easier if I had another vice like alcohol to provide some relaxation but for better or worse i don't drink  :uhoh

Hang in there Zoney, it's hard but you're doing the right thing.
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

Congrats Zoney, my dad smoked for 30 or so years until he had a heart attack about 2 months ago, stopped cold turkey, I noticed he got a bit more irritable as well as he eats more now, however that's started to subside quite a bit and return to normal - without the smoking

So give it time, don't think about it, and go kill some buffs in the mean time my friend  :aok

Zoney man, I gave up smoking and drinking a few times - best thing I can tell ya is avoid anything thats stressful. You probably haven't noticed but every so often I quit playing Aces High - because I quit smoking or drinking for time period.

I finally quit smoking after realizing its not helping my stress level any more then having a cigarette would. I dropped off Aces High around Feb this year to quit smoking, it was basically getting stressful rather then stress relief, I was missing the fundementals of the game - which is just a game.

Bran new computer built for Aces High - with new sticks and all, and I just walked away. What helped me was I got a set of golf clubs and some fishing gear, decided every time I would start getting stressed, take a half day aside to do some golfing or fishing.
The exercise and plus stress free environment helped me escape, I had no "withdrawals" at all. I actually started sleeping better and got more energetic.

Its not easy to walk away from your own business when you are stressed - however my family and friends stepped in at times to give me a hand. You just gotta find your own stress relief button mine clearly wasn't Aces high.
