From the usage increase of GVs since the new system has been implemented shows that the players prefer the new system over the old one.

ack-ack

I Like the old and new system but if I am climbing a hill I would like to change the gear's  on my own and I think that is the Biggest complaint right noew is with gear selection...... in a way this is a hard topic..... I have never played WOT and all and before the upgrades HTC gave the gv's I am all Favor for it with the Commander View and so on but with the Gear Selection in Gv's I think I a partial to the old ways... just my opinion but then again I was not used to zooming in with tank optic's

I was almost exclusively a Tanker until this new transmission showed up. I can't creep forward or move instantly now and I get killed much more and just about stopped GVing. I hate it it is not correct for the tanks we have. If we have to have an automatic transmission give us a tank that had one like the Leopard, M48A-5 M60A-3 or M1-Abrams. At least give us the option of a wonderful standard transmission that response instantly  or the you will be killed soon trying to clime a hill automatic transmission.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is over the auto transmission.  I don't seem to have any issues at all, ever.  If I want to creep ahead I take the tank up to the desired speed and then go "hands off".

Flat terrain, hills, urban, ... no issues.

I say keep it as it is.

It is correct because it isn't supposed to be modeling an automatic transmission.  It is supposed to be modeling a driver while you are the commander.  The commander doesn't tell the driver "Ok, first gear....now second gear....go to third gear now....put it in fourth now....bit of a slope, back to third gear" and so on.  The commander just tells the driver how fast and were to go.

I won't dispute that our driver isn't very good at selecting the best gear for the task though.

I will agree that I would like the option but the only real problem I have is the hills.   Just a bit tricky to get the GV to the right speed/fastest speed without shifting up, slowing down and shifting down again.

Maybe a gear lock option?  When going up a hill stay in 3rd or what have you... :)

I never did find the clutch key on the old system  !
Anyway,,, I posted my configuration for the X-52 in help and training   If your having trouble with what you have, you might want to check it out,  my personal opinion is , the new tranny is better, but you have to learn its strengths and avoid its weaknesses

I was primarily a GV player, and I have to say, I never had any of the problems everyone complains about. I can still climb hills, I accelerate fine, I've never had a problem with getting moving.

It seems to me that its a lot like in real life; if you go strait to 6th gear, obviously you won't accelerate very fast. If you try an climb a hill in 6th, you're obviously going to go nowhere fast.

And in an automatic, you can manually select a different gear for hill climbing.

HTC just provides the tools; the onus is on you to figure out how to use it correctly.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

they cant climb steep hills as easy as they could before.  you make it climb on suraces that in real life it would be impossible.

The ability to lock or unlock the gear presently engaged would be useful
