ah understood.

I missed your original question though. Its not a V6. Its the 2.4 L I4 vtec engine. I wouldn't have minded a v6 but my commute to school is 20 miles and if traffic does the speed limit its a 20 minute trip. So with the 4 cylinder I get better mileage. My only complaint is that its a automatic. Easier, but its much easier to become distracted I find. A standard keeps me a bit better focused. Oh look a butterfly...

 ok......be sure to keep to intervals on your oil changes. that engine has a timing chain. there are tensioners and guides made of a plastic compound. they are perfectly fine as long as you keep the oil in good order. also, the control solenoid for the variable valve timing can/will be affected if the oil gets too old/dirty.

 that's a pretty dam nice first car man.  :aok

You're lucky. My first car was a 68 F100 Flareside in sunburst yellow. Chick magnet.

Most people don't understand the mass/speed thing when they drive. Gotta dodge lunatics all day in my 46ton truck. 46 tons at 60 mph translates to what?

lol, you are right;
I drove 2 mil miles, thx God, accident free in a 18 wheeler; This days i feel more relaxed   driving through blizzard and snow covered roads on Transcanada hwy than dodging distracted drivers especially weekend evenings in major cities.  I installed a bigger noisy air horn to wake them up, can hear it from Cuba, and a dash camera with 32 GB card recording nonstop; I'm watching around form my cab,aprox half of the drivers are on the phone,tablets, texting, surfing the internet; The fast wireless internet is amazing helpfull, but out of control already; this toys are going to kill more people than cancer.

That was my real first car. Me and my pops rebuilt a 1972 Super Beetle from the ground up. We did the motor with a few upgrades though :) 1776CC it does 80 comfortably  :neener:. The only reason I dont drive it all the time is the safety factor and we want to keep it looking good so occasionally I cruise the town in it  :D One of the most fun things in the world to drive though.

wow slash thats a sharp truck :aok too bad it has the quadrajunk in it.  need to put manual hubs in it :D
back to the op, nice car man :cheers:  my first rig was an 89 s10 pickup  I threw lots of hay bails to buy it for $701 at an aucthion through my dads work.  Bought it with 45k on it sold it with 225k, changed oil religiously at 3k greased every oil change.  only thing that ever went wrong with it was 2 sets of front brakes, a muffler, and coolant temp sensor.  I still see the truck driving around with almost 350k on it now

To be honest, driving is harder than flying. This is mainly because you are surrounded by idiots... ive learned this lesson once already. Now I assume everyone else around me is clueless.

You are soon to develop an appreciation for the idiocy of drivers with phones.

My mom used to say that I shouldn't rely on my superior driving skills - which I know I don't have - because I can't control the other drivers out there.

It's also healthy to recognize and remember the fact that you're one of the clueless idiots. At least in the eyes of other drivers.

Keep a safe distance to the bumper of the car in front of you and keep your eyes in front of him so you can react before he hits the brake. Just as in flying: Don't aim where the other plane is, aim where he's going to be when the bullets cross his path.

Nice looking ride. Keep it in shape, especially the undercarriage. Driveability is more important than a steering wheel cover.
