The whines that result from vulching make it a worthy endeavor.

Oh?  I don't think anyone would  forego the rope a dope if it worked.

A rope is a technique, we weren't talking about that.

Vulching is a mortal sin by the way. All that do it are going to cartoon hell where cartoon Satan will fry their cartoon testicles in a pan for all of cartoon eternity.  :old:

Quit your crying, boy.

Says my favorite belligerent.

I have been trashed by field ack shooting down someone landing. Typically the guy I go through all of that trouble for is the one who was picking/vulching/etc....

so flying LW im mixin it up with a p38 near my airfield, fun fight we had i happen to get good position on the guy i shoot him down,as im starting to land and landing gears down here come p47M from the side of me low to the deck.being that im under 100mph and gears down i cant get out of the way so of course the ACE pilot shoots and kills me.why is it that out of oh i dont know just a tiny thread of courtesy to fellow players you wouldnt be a jerk and take the shot.is it some sort of god complex that forces people to make these sad decisions, all i know is im pretty tired of lack of courtesy :headscratch: . Well why don't we shuffle off to namby pamby land where we don't get shot!
It's OK to shoot someone in the back, but not when their landing ?

there's not one player here that wont kill, maim or harm another player who is at a vulnerable position.  be it landing or with less skill.  it's a joke to think otherwise.

I'm sorry to disappoint if you think you laid an especially clever trap. I dismissed your minor point since the main thrust of the discussion was about chivalry, your upper statement which is of the 'for all' form is incorrect, I have encountered several players who value courtesy above adding another notch to their (let's face it, largely meaningless) Aces High scorecard.

To answer your lesser point: what is less ignoble, to spend years of learning, practising and developing skill then applying that whatever fight unfolds (often initially unfair fights, outnumbered, out energied etc), or to swoop through field ack at 450 m.p.h to blast an aircraft on approach or one which hasn't got its wheels yet off the ground?

Well, I suppose  a lesson in SA has been taught, just as falling for  a Rope  has a lesson to teach getting nailed  on landing has one aswell.

And the point ^^^^.

Nothing sucks worse than being out of ammo, short on fuel, and trying to land when someone zaps you.  The reality is if you really want to land the kills and see your name in lights, plan better and land at another field. Otherwise be content with the knowledge that you fought your best and the only way the other guy could pop you was gear down on a runway.   ;)
