How do you feel about the AI

Looking for your opinions on AI.
 
Are they challenging to fly against In your opinion..

 Is their aim deadly accurate?

 Is it obvious they are AI?

 Are they predictable?

They're predictable, obviously AI, aim is horrid but they do know how to fight. What I don't like about them is that an AI Tempest can turn with me in a I-16. If any pilot could do that in real life, or even in real game, they'd be the best in the world.

Although predictable, the AI absolutely reveal many things about the basic potential of aircraft...

Like you said about the Tempest, that is a tight as a Tempest can possibly turn.

Their aim is deadly accurate, but that just makes you want to dodge more, which of course is a good thing.

To a extent, yes...

AI pilots to be are better than 95% of the user-base in my honest opinion...

And the Bomber Gunners are like attacking 999000 over and over...

IT just seems nothing is better than a live opponent. I get boared with the AI real fast and can tell they are AI immediately... Any others feel this way?

I feel like i'm flying against the same person each time. Movements from AI are predictable and the aim is that of a Storm Trooper from Star Wars. If I really wanted a good challenge i'd fight the real deal. The AI are repetitive and boring, I wish there'd be more of a "randomness" factor included.

I thought that I would revisit this question in light of the latest patches and a welcome indication that HTC's commitment to Staged Missions which employ their AI system.  This is awesome news and for those that remember that "Tour of Duty" concept that was set aside some years ago, it was promised that HTC would work to integrate them into their design with time.  HTC has definitely lived up to their promise with this.  :aok  (with a little help from dedicated players and the AvA and Custom Arenas)

As for rating AI, they do some things really well and others not so.  It all has to do with the use and utilization of them.  I think Jimson and the folks in the AvA are far beyond what most of us would hope to accomplish with this tool but it is a work in progress.

I hope that a staged mission big enough for FSO for example will be feasible one day without crashing the server...

Ever since I updated to Version 2.30 Patch 4, the AI never engages the player (me) anymore. I can just shoot down a whole formation of enemy AI bombers without being shot at even though the mission's segment for the bombers are meant to "attack". Is it a bug?

Can't say without knowing which mission...

And more importantly, if there is MORE than 2 for every one on your side, they will not engage except for the 2 locked on you... "EXAMPLE: 5 enemy fighters and just you, only 2 will engage and the other will simply ignore"

It seems like the AI doesn't change it's strategy for different planes. Does this seem correct and if so any opinion about which planes it uses best? I was thinking light wing loaded turners.
