Stall limiter
« on: April 17, 2013, 03:46:01 PM »
What exactly does this do? For the bit I've been playing I never really found out. (Please don't say "it loses fights"  :lol)

The stall limiter limits the maximum AoA you can pull during flight

And thus can prevent you from stalling your plane. Howver without stall limiter, you can pull a tad more before stalling ("flying at the edge") and thus turn (somewhat) tighter.

What Snail said, it greatly limites the AoA, therefore it doesnt let you perform any post-stall moves, just like snaprolls, hammerheads or tailwhips.
Do yourself a huge favour and disable it.

I dunno if you do or do not, but if you do fly with stall limiter on TURN IT OFF!

You will do so much better once you learn to fly without it. It may take a few weeks, but you'll get the hang of it.

Thanks for clearing it up guys. And, to be honest I do fly with it on. I tried turning it off and seemed to be dying way more often  :rofl

I fly with it off.  Getting beat now and then is better than being able to do fancy moves that I have no idea how to do.
And not crashing every sortie is a plus.  :)

Even though you die more with it off, You will become a better pilot. It will help to learn control. I flew with it on for about three months and when I finally turned it of I had to relearn . But it IS worth it .

I meant to write that I fly with the stall limiter on.  Derp.

Guess my proofreading skills are about on par with my flying.  :)

RedBull still uses this feature. That and auto-takeoff.  :neener:

Three more weeks and the Orange plane is back....

To the OP, I used to get so frustrated watching guys turn inside of me and not understanding why. The stall limiter "off" forces you to fly with a higher degree precision. You can't slam your stick around like you used to (unless you are a 190 guy  :neener:) and as a result, your overall control of the airplane will improve over time.

You will be extremely frustrated at first, stick with it.  :aok

It's taken you how long and you still use it?
