I'm aware of that, but i'd like to envision organized (as in everyone's flying at the same speed & altitude at start...) teams (bish/knite/rook chess) closing-in against each other to create a massive, titanic clash type of dogfighting.
... and take out "time fillers" for the proposed arena (with new system to support it) that don't involve fighting, such as:
> taking off
> building altitude
> rtb
I'm sure many will come to appreciate the fast-paced arcade aspect while retaining this game's "realism" (with internal-cockpit-view-only strongly emphasized.)
In addition to my proposed setup, i'd like to see:
- "auto-altitude generator" (going no higher than 25k) when 5-minute window-to-launch the match starts.
- starting speed at altitude (as seen on online play of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator series) depending on the type of "rolling planeset" (example: early war planes = 250mph start; mid war planes = 300mph start; late war planes = 350mph start)
