Well the P39 isn't really that maneuverable.
if you think it ain't very maneuverable then you are flying it right I can get my P39 to sustain a turn fight with a spit 9 pretty easily the trick is just take the 3 gun pack versus the 5 gun pack as along as you have a 37mm in the hub your set to get atleast 1 kill with that aircraft

If you're in a 47M, and your going against any 110.
If he wants to turn, point your nose at the sun and come back down on his little dizzy bellybutton and blow him up.

Probably had the stall limiter on.

I'll always go after a P47 in a 110 regardless of energy state or altitude advantage and win most of them if he doesn't run away.

90% of my meeting a jug at 30k+ result in the jug immediately diving away 29,000 feet.

A Bf110 is a free kill to a P-47 at 30k+.  You must only encounter incompetents

why not?

Because he was having fun!  :old:

This.  :old:

It was fun for me, though I don't think the other pilot enjoyed it. The first time around there was an LA in the fight as well that broke off his attack after a few turns. I'm assuming the radio chatter sounded like... "I'm going to have a 1v1 with this guy, don't kill him unless he gets me." That said, after words I nearly out turned the LA for a few passes.

The second time, he clearly wasn't having fun because right after I shot him down he grabbed a spixteen and owned me. He also returned neither of my salutes.

I love to fight at 30k, it's fun shooting down the guy who isn't used to it. One of my favorite things to do is sit above strats and shoot down the bombers. Or... sit above enemy strats and shoot down the interceptors.

Over the years that I was a trainer, I would frequently run training events at 30k. Up there, the P-47s rule the roost. However, the P-38s, Spit 9, Spit 14, P-51s, Ta-152 and F4U-4 are very capable. 109s do so-so, 190s are largely out of their realm. The biggest issue for the 190s is that there isn't much gap between max speed and stall speed, which severely limits capability.

Theoretically, the 110 should win in a low and slow turn fight... so why is it that I beat a 110 twice in a low and slow turn fight with a 47M?

And yes, I have film to support this. I will upload it first chance I get (meaning as soon as I find it...  :uhoh)

I disagree,

The low and slow JUG may be the most dangerous adversary you happen to come across.

If you take it for granted the JUG will EAT you.

BTW, I for one thouroughly enjoy the 110 as a guilty pleasure.  :aok

I disagree.  Prove me wrong....

Oh, nvm, you can't... because my mighty Spitfire pwns your Jug like it's the low and slow Jug that it is.... but...

I do admit that 110 of yours is quite the challange. :joystick:

Sorry, that was out of context. The discussion came up in 200 and everyone else said that it should not out turn the 110 despite what I had just done. And I also like to take the 110 when the enemy bombers absolutely cannot make it home in one piece.

I disagree, I've out turned spits in the jug. And yes, I have film for this as well if I can remember when any of them were recorded. It's simple, build lots of speed (run away) if they follow you, you quickly chop throttle and do a few ACMs to quickly bleed speed. BOOM! Spit overshoots = profit.

I once flew a Spit IX to a stalemate in a 110G-2 in a low and slow one-on-one that must have lasted 5 minutes or more.  It wasn't because I out-turned him though, it was because I out-flew him.

No you haven't.

That's not out-turning them.
