All things to all men..nearly..the CT..an idea!
« on: December 07, 2001, 01:14:00 PM »
Something I like in the main...the map changes after a side victory.

What about in the CT a series of Scenarios which have objectives to both sides. The briefs to these objectives are published at Hitech so you can look them up. The thing is, they are built up by a CT group of players from both sides and assisted technically by Hitech Creations for the Server to decide that those objectives have been achieved and a new map comes online...as well as a maximum number of days that Scenario stays in place if the objectives have not been met by either side.

Scoring is part of the above parcel.

The important thing is to establish a team of Scenario makers who make up the Map/Terrain, Objectives, Plane/Tank/Ship/Train/Vehicle sets and scrutinised by the CT membership, it is then passed to Hitech to add their magic for scoring and DB stuff. We do the ground work, Hitech Creations put the values in. The scenario runs for a period, comments come in about balance, objectives etc...some modifications go in to tweak it and it gets republished. We build a repository of these Scenario's where we get medals   :D for our efforts in these Scenarios etc etc.

Maybe it's all been said before. With regards to CT settings, icon range etc. I think the people who play/make these scenarios should vote (per scenario) on the settings and they can be varied to suit all sooner or later  :p

The KEY thing about this is of course if Hitech Creations can implement the objectives.

eg: Dropping 500 troops onto a town, moving 20 tanks onto an enemy field. Straffing 200 vehicles in specified areas. 10 Trains destroyed. ie. The Server counts our objectives as the Scenario is played and if one side succeeds, it is displayed on a list. Also, if the objectives are not met within time constraints, it is reset.

Oh yes...we could have short quick maps...for a couple of days and a couple of long Scenarios...on other days.

Enough waffling  ;)

Interesting idea.  Not sure of the practicality of it though but if its possible I'm behind it.

It'd be cool knowing there is some "overall objective" for my side to be working on when I log into the CT each time and I can choose to help that along as best as I am able  :)

Sounds like you're proposing "auto missions", is that right?

One thing I've never seen from Hitech is any AI.

Would an AI "general" for each side be what you're wanting? Log on, pick one of the posted missions and fly?

Are you looking for an online "campaign" mode?

I don't think he was looking for an auto-campaign maker.
I think the idea was for the CT team to create overall objectives for each side each time the map changed so its not JUST a "go out and win the war" approach.

I like the concept as it gives somthing BESIDES base capture to focus on.  If players want base capture they can always just log into the MA and go for it.

The idea would be a nightmare to implement as I see it.  I'm not sure the CT TEAM has enough members on hand to go ahead with this.  The idea could be implemented in time, but for now I think it won't be do-able.

I think it depends on Hitech Creations in terms of how complicated to tie in these 'AUTO' Scenarios. Who knows, Hitech may produce tools to set up this type of thing. It needs Hitech Creations to make comment if this type of idea is a possibility at some point...Even like... Lets talk about it in 6 months  :)

What if the set-up was a little more simple like:
You are in the tower and you would have the messages for your targets and defense areas.  Of course you would only know what your country's targets and defense areas are.
Rooks targets of focus are "city "Z", and rail station "S" and HomeLand defense of city "A", Airfield "D", ammo dump "F" and port "G".
Then Knights targets of focus would be city "A" and ammo dump "F" and there Homeland defense would be "city "Z", factory "R", and rail station "S" , and Fuel Dump "T".

Then set a total destruction value (like the numbers generated by your points in the scores??)for a country and when that destruction value is met AND the assigned targets are destroyed 100% (or whatever is acceptable if rebuild is on) then that country wins or loses the battle and then the arena is either reset or a new set of targets is generated. The "targets assigned" may be rebuilt a few times before the total destruction number is reached so it could be a fairly long battle??

edit:
This would allow base capture to become secondary as you would only need to capture bases to make it a shorter run to strike the targets.  The bombers would need to have escorts or fighters nearby to have any hope of hitting a main target because the enemy would have a decent idea of where you were going to hit.
