Mandella dead @ 95
« on: December 05, 2013, 03:54:46 PM »
RIP

Definitely a man that will go down in history.

The future will be interesting.

RIP

He was not revered in high regards by many of my South African friends. The more that I learned the less I liked. However, he played a big role in history.

South Africa is an interesting place to visit. Robin Island as well.

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Nevertheless he became a great fulcrum for change. RIP

I certainly give this man his due, he did a lot of good work. However, there is a lot to the story that the media will never tell the masses.

May Nelson rest in peace.

Africa has always been a savage and brutal land. Just living to the age of 95 is a fine accomplishment.

I have no doubt that he meant well. But the ANC destroyed that country.

After his release he never reoffended, proving to us all that prison does work. He was the poster boy for the prison system.

Let's see here, Mandela was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. As South Africa's first black president Mandela formed a Government of National Unity in an attempt to defuse racial tension. He also promulgated a new constitution and created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses. Continuing the former government's liberal economic policy, his administration introduced measures to encourage land reform, combat poverty, and expand healthcare services. Internationally, he acted as mediator between Libya and the United Kingdom in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial, and oversaw military intervention in Lesotho. He declined to run for a second term, and was succeeded by his deputy, Thabo Mbeki. Mandela subsequently became an elder statesman, focusing on charitable work in combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Also, he gained international acclaim for his activism, having received more than 250 honours, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Soviet Order of Lenin.

All this after serving 27 years in prison.

Yeah you're right. He was just another nobody......my bad.

You nancy pants brits called Americans terrorists too at one time. But that all changed when your royals came begging us to save you from Germany......not once but twice.

And I'm sure if Mandela wanted to write a song it would have sold more copies than that stupid song "I Think I'm Turning Chinese"   Only a book about soul music written by a brit could sell less copies.

That's all have to say to you troll. Now go away.

Very true, the attack on the EIC was a terrorist act by the Americans. In time people forget.
