It should be a great experience. But it could be the most boring and miserable experience of your life. It's the luck of the draw. I've been working as an extra since 1999 including a couple of Hollywood movies with very famous stars. I got to drive cool cars, fire guns and get shot at, wear historical costumes and chat to pretty girls. But some days it's no fun at all. You can be too hot, too cold or sitting around for hours and even when in a scene you can find it becoming less than fun.

Bit of advice: Turn up on time, do as you are asked. Never look at the camera. Don't bother the stars with autographs or offer 'advice' to the crew or you'll be walked off the set and as the saying goes: 'You'll never work in this town again' 

But it should be enjoyable. I got hooked on it after my first job where I was asked to get into a Range Rover, swing it around and drive off at high speed. This at night on a pier with water on either side. I later wondered if they mistook me for a stuntman.  Generally though I'm cast as a cop. I think I must have missed my true vocation.

If you're lucky you'll be pulled out from the crowd and given a little job. Next thing you know the Director is calling you by your first name and you feel like a star for a minute or two. I even had a few lines over the years. I wouldn't call it acting though.

Enjoy it but be warned you can get hooked very easily.

I was in a short comedy he produced which came second in Brighton comedy festival.

He met Sam Neil last year in Peeky Blinders, he does not have a sense of humour apparently

I missed the last one but my family didn't

in that picture is left to right,Sam Elliot,My sister , my sisters mother in law, my mother,(yellow shirt) niece and nephew, brother in law,( Black hat) and my Dad

Todd. (my brother in law) said he was most impressed by Sam, they talked for almost two hours, then Sam said "Todd, It's been a real pleasure" shook his hand and said he had to "go to work"He new every ones first and last names, addressed my dad as sir every time they talked but said his name as well when he left ,and shook his hand.


Sarah played with the kids a good bit, they where in a good bit of the original filming but got left out of the movie except for a small part!

Todd also said Hugh Grant was a bit of a snob,, he asked Hugh where he was from and he said  why ? where are you from, Todd said New Mexico, right here, five miles down the road and you? Hugh said some place, i don't remember where, and Todd replied, I'm sorry,, i thought Disney just made places like that up! dumbfounded was the look that best described Hugh  next,, he didn't get out of his trailer much!

Mention of Sarah Jessica Parker reminds me of her co star in Sex in the city, Kim Cattrall. I was in one of her movies, a cop wouldn't you know! We were filming in a nurse's college set up as a hospital. She was really nice and had lots of time to chat to the nurses and extras and to post for photos. Another extra told me a story, he was an extra for a movie made in a hotel where he happened to know the manager. A good looking woman came over and joined them. She knew the manager obviously but he had no idea who she was and they chatted for a while. Eventually he had to go to the set. As he's sitting there in walks the woman who happened to be Kim Cattrall! She gives him a big wink! He had no idea who she was until that point.

Julianne Moore is very pleasant too and Cate Blanchett.

But you should have heard what a very famous director said about Sharon Stone!
