You are entitled to your opinion, just as I am entitled to express my thoughts on why the vast majority of people join the military.

I am not sure about a lack of guts, discipline, or fibre...if anything the problem is that I am overburdened with intelligence.

I'd sign up to defend our country in heartbeat if we were actually threatened, but to risk my life/well-being to make rich people richer by signing up as cannon fodder? No thanks.

I'm not sure who is more hopeless...the person who joins the military because they have no other option in life, or the person who does so because they actually believe that they are doing something to defend the USA.

You don't come across as intelligent, much less overburdened with it.  You do seem overburdened with self adoration and bulls**t though.

I never said defending freedom makes me better than everyone else. You said people who join the military are hopeless.

While this behavior is shameful, I don't understand why it is surprising to some of you.

Now, as always, the majority of the people who join the military are doing so because they have no other options open to them in life. It's not because they love their country. It's because they are losers who can't succeed at anything else. "Ohhh sweet, the army will take me and pay me and train me even though I'm a total no-hoper!"

Of course they are going to continue to be failures and f***ups in the armed forces, just as they were in civilian life.

oh the irony, first insult our guys.  then request that they be sent to war.
