Actually.....missed assignments.....bad rendezvous....squads running into other enemy squads they didn't plan on meeting.   This is why I like FSO!  Its the "Fog of War."  The best laid plans going to hell when the first round is fired.    This is the "realism" that makes it worth staying up to all hours of the night.   The funny thing is....when I think "We have good plane set...we have the upper hand....we usually get an unexpected surprise and the night ends too soon.  Then there's nights like last friday.   We are flying what?!?!  TU-2's.  How high?  15K ceiling.   I say "We are gonna get slaughtered"....then....we post one of the biggest nights in squad  history.... FSO is like a box of chocolates....you never know what you'll get.

i find it interesting that when something like this happens people freak out, but yet in WWII did escorts sometimes not make rendezvous? didnt squads sometimes end up where they shouldnt be, or out of position? thats what makes it fun. to be honest, the squad that didnt show, did the allies a favor. if they had showed, the allies wouldve really been overwhelmed and the whole thing wouldve been out of whack.... oh wait stuff like that actually happened!

The "fog of war" and all that is going to happen.  If I am not mistaken, the lack of participation referenced at the beginnig of this thread had nothing to do with that.  It had more to do with "playground tantrums".

So what are you implying? You mean, in real life, Pooter55 can't just decide to leave his squad at home just because he doesn't like BigSkum and Sucky01 and doesn't feel like providing top cover?

Is that what happened here, or a re you writing more generally?

My understanding, someone please correct me if I am wrong, is that a squad decided not to participte in a planned FSO event based on an ongoing feud on these very bulletin boards and in doing so affected the gameplay for some on the frame just completed.  Does that explain things a litle better?
