The last V8 Interceptor will be back next year in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Cuz all superchargers have an on/off switch.

At least one kit available for GM LS motors vents open to atmosphere during normal driving.  That's basically "off".

'Vanishing Point" whips "Mad max" in every way.   Heck, "Crazy Larry & Dirty Mary" whips "Mad Max".

As long as we are talking about the car stuff anyways because the acting is equally horrible in all of them.

The charger on max's car had a magnetic clutch like you see on a AC unit!   So yes Max could switch it on or off at will.  IIRC you can see the pulley clutch engage in one of the chase scenes.

Of course I could be mistaken but I thought the old welland blowers had that option aswell.

Having the switchable option gave the car and the movie a high cool factor.

It was in the movie, and Hollywood never lies.

Wiley.
Sorry, but you can't blame anything in Mad Max on Hollywood.  It was 100% domestic Australian.

Heh... Force of habit.  To be correct, I should've said filmmakers.

Always meant to track down an Aussie copy of that movie just to hear it once with all the glorious accents intact.  I'm given to understand the North American versions were redubbed without accents for a lot of the roles.

Actually, I believe it was redubbed to minimalize the accents so non Aussies could at least understand it.

Also the motorcycle stunt where hep flips off and crashes in the bushes was done with minimal stunt type safety and co-ordination, pretty good one too.
