Thats not proof though.... more inexperienced pilots will fly 51s.

There are pilots in ah who fly 51s and are untouchable.

The same can be said about 190d9 pilots.

My Squadmate Urchin is 22 to 4 or so in p51 this tour. He did that just screwing around.

p51 is a deadly plane.

D9 flown correctly is a very dangerous ride...just like many other rides in AH...ain't the plane, it's the pilot.

They are too close to call. Pretty even in most areas. D-9 climbs a little better, P-51 turns a little better. P-51D is easier to aim, but D-9 guns have a lot more punch. I'll give it to the P-51D because it has much better fuel endurance which allows the pilot to climb very high and choose where on the map he wants to fight. But like Rude said, the pilot is the main thing with a matchup like this.

i would say the its too close to call, with greater pilot skill being the modifier in the dora v p51 matchup.

g10 vs p51 i would have to go with the g10 any day baby

g10 v dora again i would go with the g10.

I'd go with the Dora

I can fly the Pony much better, but for some reason, I can get more kills per sortie in the Dora.. I find it to be more of a fighter.

And the guns in the Dora are great, dont listen to the whiners, dora has GREAT guns, I like them much more than the 6x.50

The guns in the Pony are really easy to make contact with... the shotgun effect. The roll rate on the Dora is nice, turn rate on the 51 is nice... they are both great rides.

Dora wins because it doesn't have that weenie red/white/blue paint job

I want that nice olive/silver paint from the 352nd!!!

I haven't flown the P-51D much, but I found the P-51B to be an excellent plane against 190s.

Although some pilots in any plane will take you behind the woodshed and give you a thorough arse whipping. So like most any plane it depends on the person flying in and how patient or impatient they are with it.

i gotta go with the pony...i took up both the d9 and the pony today and i totally kicked bellybutton with it. i took up the d9 3 times and only got like 5 kills total. i took up the pony probably 5 times and got at least 3 - 4 kill's per sortie. ponyD all the way. but of course....im a .50cal fan so maybe that has something to do with my decision

I think the D9 vs Pony stats are a little skewed since a lot of new pilots fly the P-51. With two equally experienced pilots flying, I think it would be a tossup. I actually like both planes.. but the wierd thing is the P-51 actually 'feels more like a fighter' to me. Maybe it is because I'm not used to it, and don't really know what it can and can't do against other planes (like I do with the Dora), but I either fly the P-51 more aggressively than the Dora or people are flying more passively around me (when I'm in the Dora). I think the P-51 turns better to, if it doesn't it sure feels like it does. Of course, that makes me question how the hell I manage to turn with P-51's when I'm IN a Dora, but I'm not gonna worry about that right now.
