Modern flight simulator

I used to fly Janes US Navy Fighters. Is there something like this that is online, similar to AH? I'd love to get a once over.

Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) is about as close as it gets, boo.

In my experience, nothing is ever what it seems to be, but everything is exactly what it is.

Strike Fighters Series is like USNF, and made by someone involved with US Navy Fighters. You can buy the series here:

https://store.thirdwire.com/store.htm

http://www.thirdwire.com/

Graphics are great, Gameplay is limited to Singleplayer Campaigns and Missions. Fun game and Nearly Identical gameplay to USNF and others. Not complex, and very easy to get into.

Highly Moddable with lots of freeware and payware addon aircraft and terrains.

Definitely a fun game.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Try Falcon BMS over at Falcon Online. They host theatres for weeks at a time where you can fly 24/7 against human opposition. The numbers aren't anywhere close to AH, but when you're fighting in F-16s there are plenty of targets and systems to manage to keep you busy.

Thirdwire's Strike Fighters 2 is a casual jet combat sim, very much in the spirit of the classic Jane's Navy Fighters and NATO. It's not up to par on graphics like DCS though...

Here is a Good Strike Fighters 2 AAR video, which goes into describing some good mods for the game.

I really like the Strike Fighters series. It's a nice outlet when you want a fix but aren't in the mood for AH.

That looks like Strike Fighters 2 "North Atlantic", I have nearly all of them. These games are merged upon installation, which means you can fly them across all the terrains. I usually build and fly missions or custom campaigns, default campaigns become stale quick for me.

North Atlantic (F-14, A-7 and others)
Europe (F-15, A-10 and others)
Israel (Kfir, F-16, F-15, Mirage and others)
Vietnam (A-4, F-4, F-105, A-7 and others)

+1 for the Strike Fighters series, if there is anything on par with the old Janes games, it's these sim(lights).  The only F14 Tomcat sim around really too, if that means anything to you, although with various Falcon mods there are F14s to be had I suppose.

As for BMS, I would argue that it is even more complex than DCS in some ways, although IMO current BMS and A10C dedicated DCS are probably a toss up in terms of complexity/good times.
