This is my second time I went to the e-cig . I went two year's with them the first time . I could smell and taste again for the first time in 40 year's but slipped up and smoked a cigar and started smoking cigar's . Now I am back to the e-cig again two months now and just now starting to get my smell and taste back again .

Cigars are my bane. Even now 16 years after I quit I can't go into a cigar/smoke shop. I love me a good cigar.

I was actually lucky - I had hip surgery and couldn't move - and the wife refused to buy any for me.
They had given me an incentive thing a ma jig - see pic

every time I felt the urge - I did the exercises they recommended, it helped remove the breathing in and out smoking urge, while also causing some serious coughing jags that reminded me why I actually wanted to quit. - I swear it was the best way to do it without -nicoderm, etc
4 years in march - no urges what so ever - once in a while I see someone light up and think- that looks good - then remind myself

1. you can't breath like a normal person now - (30 years of smoking causes some definite damage ) why go back to that?
2. At today's prices - figure 20 dollars a day saved- i was a 2 packer-
3. I actually can take a deep breath and not feel like I have to cough a lung out
4. 20 dollars a day
5. My clothes don't smell like an ashtray
6. 20 dollars a day
7. my breath doesn't small like an ashtray - you don't smell that if you smoke- but believe me it is true, it is an awful smell - I feel so bad that I subjected my kids to that awful smelling breath
8. 20 dollars a day
9. sex is better- way !!
10. 20 dollars a day
11. headaches, hangovers, virtually disappeared
12. 20 dollars a day x 7 x 52= any new car payments- or that motorcycle you been thinking about - or that kickass gaming rig you could never really afford

there are a lot of incentives - if you have kids - see # 7
if not - see # 12

good luck - it isn't easy - but it really isn't hard either- it is as hard as you make it, literally one day at a time works- I maytomorrow, but today i won't, or I may this afternoon, but this morning i won't... etc - it works if you work it...

I have a good friend who works with addicts of various types. Exercise is a big deal. First, it burns cravings though second it burns trace nicotine from your system. Trace nicotine makes it more difficult to resist urges as it induced urges. Third, simple aspirin. This lessons the headaches and helps restore blood pressure in the absence of nicotine.

All that being said I've never smoked so I only know what she told me relative to smoking. I used to be addicted to Dr Pepper and those simple steps worked to stop that addiction cold turkey. 20 years of addiction ended. Lost 25 lbs as a bonus.

One thing about e-cig's . They are not all the same . Those little small ones are a wast of money . If you get a e-cig get something like this . Here is a pic of mine . I just cut back to a lower nic last week .

I am having breathing problems today.

Don't know if that's normal.

Coughing is starting to happen, I know that's normal

I have actually broke. Found out last night my 12 year old daughter was having sexual conversation with a 15 year old so instead of killing kids and putting bullet holes in phones I smoked 4 cigarettes. Startingbober tho

There's nothing that says you have to quit on Jan 1.

You quit when you want to.    Good luck!!

You can do it!

I promised my daughters that I would quit when I retired from the military and did so, it was rough for a couple of weeks but it's been nine years now.  Chewing on tooth picks or coffee straws helps.

the hacking is part of the withdrawal, you're lungs are trying to clear themselves out. if you want to know what your lungs look like,
take a look at your computer power supply. I worked on one, that the power supply failed of a heavy smoker. the tar and nicotine
was dripping off the fan blades. it was so bad I had to work on it outside, my house wreaked for 3 days after I fixed it and got rid of it.

hope that helps!

This Copenhagen quit is a bit different.  Interesting factoids:

1.  pH in a chewers mouth changes over the years they dip.  When you stop, it's so acidic it causes sores AFTER you quit.  I can verify this.
2.  I now wake up at 1:30am, 4:00am and 5am everyday...go figure that one.
3.  Geographic tongue....I'll let you look that beaut up yourselves
4.  Withdrawal is over.  Now it's the triggers...after meals, when I get on planes, long drives.
5.  Everything already tastes better.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but how does this thread not get moved?  I fail to see what it has to do with the game.

Ummm how about pm skuzzy, also considering hitech replied I don't think it's a problem

Also last I knew this was posted in Aces High General Discussion. Is this not a general discussion?

It's definitely different for everyone. Some quit easily, but I know people walking around with multiple coronary stents who still smoke. Cold turkey isn't best for everyone. Some need Chantix or nicotine replacement therapy. Whatever works for you.
