That is sad news. I knew Whels back in AW as well.  He was a good guy. Fun to hang out with. Rest in peace buddy.

Very very sad news.  Whels and I would greet one another years ago by typing Baaaaaaaaa in the 200 text buffer.  We often flew together in AW and if I was asked to put together a squadron for a scenario he was always my first choice.  We flew Jugs together in Der Grosse Schlag in the 56th ftr group.  He flew in the Mol here.  I missed him in game and to find out we've lost a great friend is disheartening to say the least.

God Bless Whels.  Fair winds my friend.  You will be missed by many.

I flew against him, and with him here as well.  One of the first guys I had an ongoing friendly aerial rivalry with, and who then took me aside and showed me a lot of the things he knew how to do.  He put in a lot of hours in the game, and when I asked about this, he told me it was due to being disabled and explained his name.  Widewing is very correct about his health, he faced some pretty terrible and painful stuff throughout his life, yet did so without complaint, and was a big asset to players in the game who took time to get to know him.

Very sad news indeed.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Hello Helen/Flossy,

I sincerely appreciate you posting this thread to let us know the sad news you stumbled across.... your thread answered a few handful of questions I had been wondering about, regarding Mike.......

Whels ( Mike Koon ) was a friend / a Brother in virtual arms I met back in AW4W, in the mid 90's..... who also was a close Squad Member of The Damned......

it is a sad sad day...... I will post again, once my emotions have settled down.....

I'll never forget you Mike!  ~SALUTE~ my Damned squadmate, friend, brother.................. may you fly top cover over all of us and forever have a good tailwind!

Damn. While no loss is greater than any other, I knew this fine man for so many years, this one got me a bit misty eyed.

Yeah Chief long time. Like a lot of us it seemed he hadn't done much flying in recent years in other than scenarios. I'd noticed he hasn't been in those either in quite a while. Great guy to fly with.
