Where the Marines go by boat the RAF Regiment goes by air.....and gets there first.  And we've never invaded the wrong beach either.

Then you get drunk, tear all the curtains off the wall of the mess so that you can wear them, and have a punch up

I joined the Marine Corps in 1988.  Several generations of my family are Marines dating back to WWI (or the Great War).

My two brothers and I followed my dad's footsteps and joined.  In fact, we have a family photo of us in our dress blues.

I joined because I was raised a Patriot.  I have a sense of duty to my country and signed up to support and defend the Constitution of the US.

To this day, I will still support & defend.  My oath has no expiration date!

In short, I joined because of my love of God, Country, and Corps.

that's not a good statement to make! during WW2 and many other wars, people from all walks of life served, teachers, doctors, lawyers, steelworkers, the list goes on and on!

I'm not a military guy, but I was in the military. Commando means not wearing underwear because it gets wet and sand sticks to it and chaffs one's tender parts raw.

Commando comes from the Afrikaan word "kommando" that pretty much translates to "mobile infantry regiment".
:airplane: I guess that you are right about that, but first time it was used in the American press was during "Merrill's raiders" in the Burma theater during WW2 and the words "commando type raids" as reported to the newspaper people.
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!
