planes that vanish when killed

This happens rarely, but have seen it for many years now and don't recall the reason.

Happens to me 1 out of 10 kills. I have a low end system and i think it just forgoes some of the grafic items when overloaded without changing the outcome.
What I did not see was a large GV battle near by. There often is when this happens on my end. Causes other problems as well.
I hope they do something different in AH3 with the impact of GVs on air to air combat 15K above them.
But in your case it still could be a taxed system and AH having to skip a step.

My system is not over taxed.  I-5 @ 3.8Ghz and a GTX 970.  FPS pinned at 59.

Looked like a head shot all right, but pilot kills normally show an explosion and the plane spirals down.  He just blinked out.

When I'm having connection quality issues, I have cons that show no hit sprites, then blink out and I get a kill notification.
