Not ground troops. If anything may be a grease gun for bailed bombers but even then I think that would be pushing it. Pistols were what we know they had, if they had em at all. So pistols are what we gave them

Machine gun wouldn't fit in the cockpit with the pilot.

And also: there was nearly a trillion guys in a B-17, they should all bail if you bailed the pilot and if close enough to the flag they would run to the flag and capture it...

For a time, some bomber crews had a hunting rifle in their survival kit, the Sauer M30 Drilling, an expensive triple barrel hunting rifle.

There is a well known video in colour of a downed Japanese pilot that a US ship pulled along side of him trying to coax him on board. He pulled a grenade out & finished himself on camera.

Equip the pilot with a first aid kit to patch up pilot wounds. I would give him a little extra time to make it back to base.

Actually, there were several aircraft that had emergency kits on board. The American aircraft had Thompsons, but not very much ammunition, and none of those were fighter aircraft. It would be interesting to know which airplanes did, exactly.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

TO ADD ONE MORE THING.  I JOINED AH FOR A SIMULATOR. NOT A FANTACY ROLE PLAYING GAME.  AR 234 THAT HAVE GUNS. F4U1 THAT CARRY 500 LB BOMBS,  BOMBERS THA CAN ACCURATELY DROP BOMB AT ALT GOING 300MPH AND DIVE AT OVER 500 MPH ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH OF A FANTACY AS IT IS.
