Sorry Gentlemen, in this series destroyed aircraft count for nothing. It is about stopping your opponent from scoring on ground targets. Focusing on effective fighter escort and pinpointed ground attacks create the victory here.
It does not say anything about this in the event write up, rules and scoring that I can find after reading it several times.... who , what, where, when and or why is

Ammo Bunker 3 points
Bridge Span 20 points per complete span. Zero pts. for less
Fuel Dump 3 points
Ships CA (4 pts) DD (4 pts)
Other Point Scoring:
NO POINTS are awarded for:
•Destroyed Town Buildings or Non-Structure Buildings
•Destroying unassigned target objects
Frame close landing Bonus:
• 0.5 points awarded for a successful landing
Friendly Fire Penalty:
• -2 points assessed against offending side per occurrence
