If I didn't have to leave for work by 5pm EST I would be much more open to giving my time as a squadron leader, something smaller in scale as I haven't been around the game for about 5 years  :cry :cry :cry. I did sign up though for axis, Brooke, and the A5 is my baby so if you see my name on the Axis roster feel free to throw me a bird!

which is also why I have retired this week from the CM team and am taking some time off.  It's time for new players to create the events they want to play, not create the events I miss and wish people would play.  Different era, different needs, and I am looking forward to what it evolves into but my time is past.

ROC nooooo!!!!!

I can only speak for myself, but that immersion factor in Target For Today was there, at least for me. Being outnumbered on the Axis as bad as we were for the first 6 hours of the event and the amount of fun was one of the best moments I had in AH. I don't know about the other CO's or command staff for the Axis but when the clock struck midnight, there was a bond and there was a sense of accomplishment. Also within my own squad, we had many guys that flew over 8+ hours non stop. By the end, we were all amazed and I know we'll talk about it for years. For me, the magic of scenarios was still there.

The immersion factor is always there in the scenarios...The bomber streams in Target for Today would make the cryt**ds in the MA wet themselves...I'm sure someone has that 1st Allied run on Paris on film....there was at least 30 sets of bombers and more escorts than I could count....Hell the scenario where we flew C205s every frame was awesome...we cleaned em up...

Junky...when was the last time you even flew in a scenario or FSO???  :headscratch:

I know you and sawzaw don't get along...maybe you should try FSO with us this month....or fly with someone like Nefari's group...

We have been racking them up in FSO...

Killing is our business and business has been very good for the Anti-Horde in FSO the last couple of years... :rock

Probably Last April....been very off and on since then unfortunately...last 3 events I was in bored me(Once we found the enemy, I know you have to find them...part of the scenario) pissed me off because of the cowardice of the enemy.

I don't have a problem with Saw, Saw has a problem with me killing him :aok (It's quite easy even when I have not flown in a while)

Junky,

It's okay, doesn't have to be your cup of tea, and plenty of reasons of my own that I could point out that could deter from participation.

I can truly say that some of my absolute most memorable times have been working together with an actual team vs team in (2 sided) historical scenarios.

Okay, I digress a bit but, just as Junky, you love "leaping into the frying pan" action that KOTH gives you.  I have participated in KOTH events where I was called out for not breaking off the initial pursuit that I had taken on one pilot, by another pilot that had a better position and was attempting to engage me.  :headscratch:  That wasn't my first rodeo, and I saw nothing wrong with continuing my pursuit while dodging my attacker at the same time, and hopefully dealing more attention to my attacker after my target was out of the fight.  The event monitor agreed with me, although the accusation that I was avoiding fighting soiled my experience.

However, I have gotten chills (no pun intended) when reaping the benefits of a great scenario, due to the planning and proper execution of team strategies, that resulted into ALL OUT brawls.

That building of suspense (where are they?  shouldn't they be doing this? I wonder if they are doing this instead?  :headscratch:  ) results in the eruption of action with a number of possible outcomes. <<< I find this very satisfying, even in defeat, knowing that I did the best that I could in my role, and can't wait for the next planning session to better prepare and definitely do it all again!  :rock

You have to fight in KOTH, SEA people are trying too hard to live so they are cowardly....just what I have experienced in the majority of the events I went there for.

You talk about this "suspense"...problem is I don't get any adrenaline pumping during the fights my groups have ran into....people aren't flying aggressive (Because of the score setup) so it ends up being just a bunch of chatter and the possibility of a good fight, I'm sure some awesome fights have got going in those events....but I can find an awesome fight in the MA more often and I can always count on KOTH to have a good fight.

Everyone brings up "quick satisfaction"....your very wrong and you should know better Chilli, I often pass fields where we have a huge advantage to find a better fight at a further base. I'm looking for a fight, and from my experience the fights were dull and a lot of it dealt with the ALT of the fights, and the time hacks / restrictions of the event. One example, zeaks vs F4Fs....Zeaks can fly higher then F4F's, which is probably historically accurate but to encourage combat...an alt limit of say 18-20K should be made so that the F4Fs can keep up better.

Now my experience in the SEA may be because group leaders/side commanders don't know what they are doing (Kind of why I always volunteer to scout ahead of groups so I can get a fight) but I think that is also part of the problem, they are worried too much about the point systems...which it shouldn't be about what side has more points, then people become afraid to die and don't want to fight.

I don't know, just my opinion

The times have changed, it's not that way any more.  Not that the new play style isn't good, it's just not what it was, which is also why I have retired this week from the CM team and am taking some time off.

Geez ROC, I'm -very- disappointed to hear that you're stepping down and away,
but I understand where you're coming from.
I look forward to seein' you down the road. You KNOW you'll be back and fully
energized at some point! <S>

My best as always, Odd
