By the way, I still need to check to see if any objects destroyed are too late to count (as axis had a bombing mission headed to Malta right at the end).  Just want to let you folks know that I will take a look and subtract any such if needed.

We didn't think the Axis last mission to malta would make it on time.

I don't think it did, but it was close.

Hey, aren't you the guy who shot down 2 of my drones?   :aok

From the logs, I don't see any axis bombers dropping bombs near the end of the frame.

The allies protected Malta completely from the final axis bomber mission.

It is a draw so far heading into frame 3, with 1 frame each so far for each side.

Tough luck on those hunk o steel allied ships, Brooke. Overall, I still think your squad of bombers did well. The F4Fs were insanely difficult to bring down. We for sure could have used another bomber group.

The fights were a lot of fun! Cheers to the guys who were able to fight at P55.

It was a very close fight. The Axis edged it out in the fighter skies, but it was tough to maintain two fronts.

Good job Allies

One note: my arena message was ahevents standard page.  Not sure if others are like this, but for people just hopping in, it would be nice to have an introduction of the event.

I <S> the allies for their downing of a ship (great work, Allied bombers!) and capturing of a base.  That was not easy to pull off.

I <S> their ship captain for a perfectly timed reversal on our second bomb run.  Had he reversed the turn a couple of seconds earlier or a couple of seconds later, that CV would have received a lot of hits -- some of them from me.  :aok  With his excellent reversal, we instead landed no hits.   :cry

I <S> their ship-defense fighters for a very spirited defense from bombers as well.

Frame 3 (about the most-active scenario frame I can remember)

Allies
------------
84 kills = 84 pts
335 obj destroyed = 34 pts
1 base captured = 25 pts
143 pts

Axis
------------
234 kills = 234 pts (see below)
225 obj destroyed = 23 pts
21 ships destroyed = 63 pts
1 base captured = 25 pts
345 pts

Axis victory.

One note on the kill total.  If I were to run this again, I would probably work on scoring that did not count GV's or C-47's or adjust in some other way.  It is hard for the allies to capture in this one, and to do so, they must use waves of lvt's or C-47's that result in high casualty counts.  If I were to score it like that in this one, the victory would still go to the axis side, but the kill total would be closer.

Thank you, everyone, for playing in this frame. <S>

Please help recruit for the final frame, frame 4:  Those Who Fall (strategic bombing into northern Italy from Foggia).

Also, hats off to the allies for going for and achieving a capture in frame 3.  That is impressive. <S>

 :salute

Allies,

That was a tough one for you but once again the score does not convey how close it was. We knew we had to prevent capture but you did it anyway. It was just lack of air support that allowed us to take it back.

I agree with Brooke that GV kills should not count in the scoring as we just sat there in tanks and blew up LVTs for hours. I am not a good GVer and I managed to kill some.

 :salute

See you next week.

To show folks how this scoring would go if I didn't count GV kills or C-47 kills (which is the way I should have written the scoring on this frame in obvious hindsight), here it is:

Allies
------------
84 kills - (9 panzer) - (6 wirble) = 69 pts
335 obj destroyed = 34 pts
1 base captured = 25 pts
128 pts

Axis
------------
234 kills - (108 lvt) - (1 C-47) = 125 pts
225 obj destroyed = 23 pts
21 ships destroyed = 63 pts
1 base captured = 25 pts
236 pts

Note, this still isn't the way I would set up this frame if I were to run it again.  There are other changes I would make to this frame if I were to run it again.

Anyway, frame 4 is nothing at all like frame 3 -- a totally different setup of strategic bombing, 15th AF vs. Luftwaffe.
