@715: Like you, I kept XP long past its last updates until I finally bit the bullet and installed Win7, 64 bit, on a separate hard disk. I was planning to do a dual booting system but for some reason XP refused to boot. As time has gone by, I've noticed there really wasn't anything crucial that I couldn't reinstall on 7. Well, WoW (Wizard of Wor) doesn't like a 64 bit system, but that's not important.

My system is pretty much like yours, E8500 and a 2 GB HD 6970. After having installed 7 I noticed that although 4 GB of RAM would work, 8 wasn't too big of an investment as second hand and I haven't regretted that. Another thing I did was to overclock my E8500 from 3.16 to 3.8 MHz. On Karelia I got very playable frame rates using the frame rate test settings, 55 to 90 with everything disabled including V-sync.
Quote from: BaldEagl, applies to myself, too
I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Omg, fire the P38 "Lightning" guns while looking at distant clouds, and it mimics a lightning storm, as the clouds flicker!

If there ever were a "BUG" that is one you might want to keep  :rock  this one would rock as bad weather!  :aok

:D  I couldn't help but smile at the humungous pun  :azn:  Sorry, somebody slap me ..... Lightning bug.... :rofl

OK, so here is my gunnery island converted to the new tiles in the Euroset. The types of trees and rock tile required a bit of topography rebuilding and massaging to look right. When you build a full terrain, only custom massage between 4x4 and 6x6 miles around each field in the combat zone. I'm massaging the whole island to learn how and have a nice presentation for anyone I give this to practice gunnery with.

I still have to visit almost 50 tanks and reposition them because of the change in what kinds of trees are laid down in the Euroset tiles. Thanks for the nice grass, you really didn't need all of those random bushes, I mean really you didn't. They look completely out of place once you get up close to them in the meadows and gunnery ranges. If I were the paranoid type I would think Waffle is trying to drive me nutz with the new trees you almost can't see through the clumps from a tank. Many of the tank town tanks are now invisible because of the clumps..... :noid

Easycore,

The more I do this the faster it gets. I have the problem of getting distracted once I'm painting, then suddenly seeing a better way to sculpt a feature or try a different tile on a spot. It's too easy to end up way out in left field 4 hours later over a new idea when it started out a simple touchup. Once you start planting a different tree type, water runoff, rock or grass and it looks good, you have to visit that same elevation and rational completely around the island.  It doesn't help my wife used to be an art teacher, her mother was a horticulture competition judge, and I've lived all over the world. :bhead :bhead :bhead :bhead

Converted Terrain.

CraterMA with the new tile set.

1. - Spawning out into the bushes can be exciting. The screen capture below will show this.
2. - Bush whacking in a tank can end up very disorienting due to the constant direction changes to run the maze. I hope a simple road system is coming soon. Just to get several hundred yards can waste a players time doing nothing but looking at trees while getting lost instead of shooting at other players.

AVA Finn Russ map setup.

The full on cloud layer dropped my FPS into the 30's, even in flight. Within a few hundred feet of the clouds into the 20's.

Spawn hazard now on the CraterMA map with new tiles.

The blue screen is still with us when Shadows and Post lighting are both NOT disabled. Disabling either one will bring the game back.

Otherwise, the download went fine.

Your running out of video memory.

Bustr,

Aren't you pointing to the obvious?   The Dr7s and their tanker counterparts will dig out their favorite ridges and sharpen their aims.  The rest of us will try and push through with a great deal of luck.  After viewing footage of Rhineland battle below, this might prove to be more accurate than our current battle attempts, but only if we could have the panzerfaust.

Our new spotting plane will become the Lancaster with 14 1000lb bombs.

What! guys getting sniped by Dr7 crossing that meadow in tank town you say. Ooopsies! Dr7 and that whole forest is toast...... OK, bailing to get another LancaStorch to spot for you. I just luvvvv those 1000lb marker bombs it carries.

If you are running Norton, Avast, or Kaspersky for your anti-virus, they are all false triggering and there is nothing we can do about it.  You have two options.  1)  Grab the file names of the patches/installation programs and include them in the ignore list of your anti-virus, or 2) shut down your anti-virus before updating.

If you are not able to install the Beta or update the Beta, it is not something we can fix.  If you get any error during the patch, you must install the entire Beta or you WILL run into problems which have nothing to do with testing the Beta.

FLS, your inability to do most updates is the problem I suspected it might be.  Has to do with rapid file removal/replacement.  It has to do with the SSD you are using.

updated from beta 5 to Beta 6 using the in-game auto update, all went fine

launched game, and tested FPS as we did for beta 4 & Beta 5

still holding 171 FPS, same as Beta 5 ( on PC 1 )( will update the other 4 soon as I can )

all seemed smooth, exited/shutdown properly ...... the 5 GB patch downloaded and installed using the auto updater in like 4 to 5 minutes total...

will fly around and check out other things , next chance I get

No hits or shooting down of drones or on line planes.  :headscratch:

Agree with Shilo on last run at Splash IIRC, all collisions were off.  No bullets, no planes, no collisions, except ground maybe.

I am unfortunately under a cloud of sound issues and nothing else, the daytime flying is fantastic. Except a brown haze during the evenings and mornings in the game which also accompany an unrealistic lime green shade across the land. Wishlist item; Turbulent thermals over the forests, it would make for an interesting dynamic.

This was reported the other day too. Offline I had the same problem. All collisions were off.  No bullet hits, no collide with the drones. By slowing down with flaps out in a Yak, I was able to collide with a radar tower. The first time through it at speed, no collide.

Trees and the ground on the other hand are still lethal.
Easy in-game again.

I built a cloud file with a single front and it crashed AH Beta p6 and LOCKED UP my machine.

When I looked at the text in the file, it didn't match the Cloud App.

0x00021d00
36,0,0,42240,500,8,8,100,100,1000,1000,1000,3000,3000,3000,0,8250,0,42240,0,0,0,0,0,0.800

Yeah, I knew better then to build a single front but I wanted to see what would happen.

It was for avafinru.
