DX11 why is it better?

Simply put it allows for using modern video cards more efficiently.

I can't say i can tell a difference in 9 and 11 in Beta.  DCS I noticed was in 9.

I thought the dx11 came to the forefront in Beta more because of the goggle type rigs hitting the market than any other reason.  Probably wrong but that is the jest of things as I remember old post.

For me the two versions of AH perform the same, too. Bear in mind, though, that the DX11 version is much newer than the DX9 game. And that although it may not show any improvement in frame rates, the overall image quality including surfaces and shadows can get much better. There's a lot more tools to use for HT. And the biggest issue against unleashing the full power of DX11 is trying to keep the players using early XP computers happy.
